Cara is now with her new family, Diane & Fred.
We really miss you, Cara! Have a wonderful life with your new family!
Cara remains a delight to us and everyone who comes in contact with her. She has come a long way since that scared little Miss from ND. We are so pleased with her progress. She is getting more and more used to unusual noises and strange situations. She still sleeps in her kennel at night, and is nearly 100 percent housebroken. What an amazing girl she has become.
Cara loves to meet new people and thrives on their attention. When we get ready to go for a walk, she’s first to the door sitting and waiting for us to put on her Gentle Leader and leash. She and Ginger, our resident dog, make a fine couple walking through the neighborhood. Everyone comments on how beautiful and well behaved she is.
Please don’t miss the chance to enjoy her through these last wonderful days of Autumn. She will put a smile on your face every day, as she does ours.
Contact your placement advisor today to meet her. It could be the start of something grand!
Goldzilla is over, but what a terrific day we all had! Cara proudly pranced across the grassy meadow in front of the stage and wowed everyone with her crème colored fur and big dark eyes. She even had time to reconnect with her sister, Corvette, and the two of them had a great, laid-back afternoon taking in all the loving pets they could get.
Cara’s been having a fabulous time over the last few weeks, learning what it’s like to have a real home. She has grown so much in such a short time. We are really excited about her socialization skills, many of which have been taught to her through Ginger – our resident dog.
It’s a whole new world for Cara. A few days ago she started playing tug-of-war with Ginger and now they share each other’s toys and doggie beds. Cara still sleeps in her kennel (with the door off) and baby gated in our kitchen. It seems to suit her. She sleeps all night, with no whining, and is awake when we get her out between 6:30 and 7:00. She and Ginger run out to potty, wait to be fed, potty again and generally have a great time racing around the fenced-in yard. What fun to see her prancing around, tail wagging enthusiastically and racing Ginger to catch the tennis balls we throw.
Very soon, Cara will be spayed and ready to go to her furever home. Will that be yours? Let your placement advisor know now.

Foster Mom and Dad went camping for the weekend and Ms. Cara went to the big city to seek new adventures.
Friday, she decided to display her cooperative side and was a perfect angel while foster sitter was at work. She had the run of the house and didn’t have one accident. When foster sitter came home for lunch, she found Cara snuggled in the bedroom with resident golden, Lacey. After work, we went for a nice walk. Cara is getting the hang of a leash and loves to sniff EVERYTHING along the way… just looking for the roses. Some friends stopped by and Cara was quite social for a breeding gal rescue. Skittish still, but willing to sneak over for pets.
Saturday began with another adventure to Lake Calhoun to meet up with 40 to 50 other Goldens that congregated to generate interest in the grrreat Goldzilla event on Saturday, Sep. 17. Cara got to reconnect with another relative, Sir Bentley. She even snuck in a little kissing. She enjoyed all the excitement, and the lake too. She walked right into the lake and plopped down. Ahhhhhh. Giving the impression she liked the water, foster sitter went home and filled the puppy pool with water for a little rinse off. Ms. Cara liked the lake better. The rest of her day was spent napping and playing. Sooooo tired.
Sunday she once again displayed her angelic side, except for maybe trying to finish off Lacey’s breakfast. Little girl – big appetite. Cara is a very curious girl and as she gains confidence, I think she will be highly trainable. She is already catching on to the sit and come commands. Plus, how can you not fall in love with this face.
