Sota pup (as we sometimes call her), is doing really well. We estimate she is 12-13 #'s. Our vet appt is this Saturday, so we'll confirm her weight. Both Maria and Francesca have become more comfortable around her (if you recall, Maria was bit last month by a lap dog, and she is working out that fear). Sota has learned already how to sit. Dan is working on stay and down, but those take longer to do. We will be enrolling her in a puppy class--just need to find the right one. She has been an absolute angel for crate training. As with probably every girl dog, she is reluctant to potty on the leash, but she finally agrees. I'm used to boy dogs, that make sport of peeing everywhere. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that being female, she views her potty breaks as a necessity and not a sport (imagine that!). Therefore, it hasn't registered that she can do this first thing on her walks--I'm confident she'll get there.

She now walks, for the most part, like she has a halo and angel wings when we're out on a leash. She is learning what excitement follows the jingle of the leash, the rattle of her collar, and the crinkle of plastic bags. All kinds of interesting sights and sounds follow! Last Saturday, I took her to the park near our house with the girls so the family could go sliding. She had a ball running after all the sleds and children on the hill. It certainly wore her out. Anyway, photos included...enjoy!

I guess when you are the "perfect puppy" you don't get to stay with your foster family very long. And with Cassie, now called Sota...that is what happened. From the very first night she was here she went into her kennel, door left open, baby gated in the kitchen, and never made a peep all night long. She would get up and play or eat by herself and was fine. She is Miss Independant yet loves the attention and play time with her humans.

I will miss the mornings when we would come downstairs and she would hear you and and jump up on the gate with paws and face saying, "Pick me up, I've been waiting!". She loved the cats and even got Casey 05-438 to tolerate her chewing on her :) She got along with my old resident and my brother's 6 month old Shepard, Bruno. There were times we had to rescue Bruno from this little girl when she got going and he was too much a gentle boy to let her have it :) She learned quickly to go to the sliders and either whine, sit or jump up on the doors to go out on the deck to potty, and she wouldn't come back in until her job was done! Eventually she got to go out with the big girls in the real yard.

She really was a wonderful puppy to foster and she hit the Jackpot with her new family. The funniest part of the family coming to meet this girl was that we couldn't keep her awake...she was so tired from playing all weekend, she kept going back in her kennel to sleep. I told them when she finally was rested, look out...they'd see the real puppy power :) The family was not put off at all and took her to her Forever Golden Home on Sunday the 29th. She has wonderful, knowledgeable and loving parents and 2 human sisters (poor Dad is out numbered, but he was the one who picked her out of all those beautiful puppies :) The parents each grew up with a puppy and are so awesome, they want their girls to have the same wonderful experience. Little Miss Sota will no doubt be the Queen Bee at the G home.

And to the G family, thank you for giving this precious little girl a wonderful life in a very caring family....knowing it's you made is easier to let her go :(
