Champ 08-439

Profile

Champ is my name and loving the ladies is my game. Not too long ago I was living outside of the metro area with my furry sister and a human family. She and I were both breeder dogs. I have been told I am a 'stud' in every sense of the word. Anyway, we lived was a small town so my fur-sis and I had a lot of freedom. The freedom was great but caused us to have quite a few visits to animal control. There are some great people there! Well, our last visit was just that; our last. Our human family said they had sold us and that they didn't want us any more. Well, THMPH on them! My sister found a home in the area and I headed to the Big City.

This RAGOM human picked me up yesterday and I am hanging with her for awhile in St. Louis Park. I have a hottie of a little brunette fur-sister here. Initially, my moves have been spurned but I know she will succumb to my charm soon; every one does. The human here says my romancing days are coming to an end. I have no idea what she is talking about. Yes, I am a little bit older (born in December of 2001), but I am in great shape and the white hair only brings character to my handsome face. Great things come with maturity, like calmness and intelligence. Me, not charming the ladies? I don't think so.

I like to hang out in the house. I am comfortable on slippery floors and furniture, especially the bed. I like stuffed toys and playing fetch. And by 'fetch' I mean, the human throws the toy, I go get it and run back to sit on the couch. Yep, I am a charmer. To know me is to love me.

I have to take a nap now, it is exhausting being this handsome. Talk to you later!

Hi All,

I went to another adoption event and hung out for awhile. Again, I met a bunch of really great people. I hope one of them will take me forever. I am so laid back and so easy going, and I am compact. Look at this picture. Look at how little space I take up!

I had an exhausting weekend! I got groomed on Friday in preparation for the RAGOM event in Coon Rapids on Saturday. That was fun! There were a lot of us RAGOM dogs there. I met so many nice people who said I was on their list. I really hope I met my furever family because everyone I visited with was really nice.

This picture of my Sunday nap getting interrupted. I am using my bear as a pillow with a tennis ball underneath. I love toys and tennis balls. I usually have at least two in my mouth. The bear was a gift from the angels who saved me from Animal Control. I hope they are reading my page. Do you believe I still have the bear? And it is still in one piece with the stuffing intact?

Look at how pathetic I can look. I am milking this "cone" thing as long as I can. I get  alot of "Ooo's" and "I am sorry's" from the human here when she puts it on me. I am fine. I can get to my toys and it actually works really well to hold one toy or ball while I work on another. My incision is getting better and soon I will not have the cone as a sympathy tool.

I didn't have one date this weekend. Humbly, I am a little shocked. I met so many people at Maple Grove during my weekend away, I though for sure I would be hooking up with someone. I'm cool, it ain't no big thing. I'll just keep hanging here in St. Louis Park with this human until love finds me.

My family had the opportunity to foster sit for Champ last weekend and I must say - What a wonderful dog! If we were in the market for another furry family member, Champ would be the one.

Champ was dropped off at our home on Thursday evening and immediately made himself at home. He had a quick wrestle with resident 4yr old golden, went on our nightly before bedtime walk, and then after a few attempts to squish between my husband and I on the bed, decided to spend the night on a dog bed. Friday was pretty uneventful, until Friday evening came and after a few times having to tell Champ to stop licking his neuter incision, I decided to take a closer look. Uh-oh. The incision site was red and inflamed. It was off to my trusty fellow foster friend's home to pick up an E-collar! Poor Champ became depressed the minute that collar went on - he would hang his head and just lay down wherever he was standing. If he tried to walk around he was bumping into walls, tables, chairs - you name it! We felt terrible, but we also knew that we could not leave him to his own devices for another night.

Saturday morning I decided to run Champ to the vet so they could have a look at his incision site. They agreed that he had probably been licking it whenever he had the chance, but did say that it seemed to be clearing up - The collar was working! They sent us home with additional meds for the swelling and to ward off infection. We went directly from the vet to the PetCo "Seniors Only" event in Maple Grove. Champ was the star of the show! He was great with all the other dogs and loved all the attention from the people who came out to visit. Everyone commented on his big block head and furrowed brow - someone even asked if he was part Bassett Hound! Champ left knowing he was loved by all and is hoping maybe he might have found that forever family he has heard so much about!

When Sunday came along, my husband and I agreed that we would be sad to see Champ go. He had been, by far, the easiest dog we'd ever had in our house (including our own resident dog!). We decided the next dog we get will have all of Champ's wonderful qualities:

  • Laid back and easy going
  • Great with cats (we have two and he ignored them all weekend)
  • Great with kids (we have a 6 month old baby and he was gentle and careful around her)
  • Loves to play but also loves to snuggle

Good luck in your search for the perfect forever home Champ - we fell in love with you in just three days so I am certain your forever family is going to be very lucky!! To all you approved applicants - You are missing out on a wonderful opportunity to be loved by an amazing dog if you don't snatch this guy up immediately!!

What a gorgeous day! I have some company this weekend. Yesterday, Rusty 07-611, an adopted RAGOM dog, came to spend the weekend with us. We had a scuffle to determine alpha and I guess Rusty won. Oh well. Big deal. I still catch the ball better than he does. We were REALLY playing yesterday; wrestling and jumping on each other. Today we are more mellow, just hanging out, enjoying the weather and barking at everyone that goes by.

Ok, my second day in the city went well. The human here let me have free reign of the house while she left for work and I showed her I can be trusted. I am so awesome.

A few things I know: "sit", "shake", "lay down", "roll over", "drop it", "toy", "outside", "get off", how to lay down on your lap without hurting you, how to walk on a leash nicely, how to share attention and room, and "no".

The human here says I am a really good dog. I do not have any issues, am not afraid of anything and am a really well behaved dog. The total package.

Oh great, more pictures.

Happy Champ
