Our Chancey boy was adopted last night :) He went to his forever home... and as we suspected he walked out the door with his new Mom and Dad and didn't look back! It does warm the heart when you know, they know... they are going home. I still cried a few tears.... as I usually do when foster dogs leave. Happy tears mixed with "I'll miss you" tears. Chance was a one of a kind foster boy, he is about the sweetest dog we have ever met and with his unknown background and his time as a stray and a shelter dog this guy never lost his spirit, and his true love for people, a true gem!
Our girl Gracie is still sad today... missing her best buddy :( They had a blast together. Hopefully, we will be able to arrange some play dates and meet up at the dog park to see Chance and reunite the two BFF's sometime soon! His new Mom and Dad promised to keep us updated and have stuck to that... we had an update and some pictures from last night already and from the sounds of it, things are going GREAT!
Just wanted to let you know that Chance made it home with us just great. He did so well in the car - he even fell asleep! My brother made a surprise visit to meet him, so he's already had one visitor! He has been so good - we have given him lots of treats already! We know, we know..., but it is his first night here and all. :) We're going to head to bed soon, but we wanted to send you some pictures of him here on his first night.
Thanks again for everything. He's such a wonderful boy - we love him so much already!
We are so truly thankful to RAGOM, and all who were involved in saving this boy from a very uncertain fate. One dog at a time we do make a difference :) Thanks also to Melissa and Jason for falling in love with Chance and adopting from RAGOM... the wonderful adoptive families complete the circle that makes rescue possible, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking our foster dogs and giving them the very best thing ever... a loving home!
Enjoy these pics of Chance looking happy as can be on his first night at his forever home :)
Chance met his forever family yesterday and is officially Adoption Pending!!! It was love at first sight for all involved :) Gotta love that!! Chance tried to follow his new folks out the door after their visit yesterday... he was ready to go home! As if we didn't already know that it was a perfect match, Chancey boy made sure to drive the point home!
This boy continues to be a sweet and easy foster who we have certainly fallen for. All of us! Our RAGOM girl Gracie is going to be so very sad when Chance leaves... the nice weather has allowed them to extend their play sessions in the back yard and they will romp and run and wrestle for an hour at a time! I have some happy tired pups when I make them come inside to take a break! Good times for good dogs :)
We will enjoy Chance until Friday, when his new mom and dad will come and we will finalize the adoption and Chance will be on his way home, forever. This boy in his young life has already lived at least 3 places :( I am so happy to say that he won't have to move ever again after Friday! He will be loved and pampered by his new parents and I just know he will live the life he was meant to live. He will be taken to obedience class and trained to be the best little golden guy he can be! I know he'll be a star. We are so happy for you Chance!!! Thanks RAGOM for saving another GREAT dog!
The more we get to know Chance, the more and more we love this cute little guy!! He is just a fantastic boy!!! You really cannot get any more loving and sweet than Chance. He is so darn appreciative of every single bit of attention, he literally gets as close as he can get so he can snuggle with us. We pet and love him up, and he closes his eyes in delight. It is such a joy to see a dog so happy. He makes us happy too! :) Chance LOVES his people.
Chance is great with other dogs... but doesn't need another dog in his forever home to be happy. He just needs a family that will give him the love and attention he deserves forever and ever! He is a Velcro boy... follow us from room to room. This may fade though... as soon as he realizes he isn't going to be left behind. But a lot of Golden's have this trait! So, it could be his golden side shining through :) Time will tell.
We don't know anything at all about Chance's previous life, only that he somehow ended up in a shelter :( If Chance could talk, I would love to know his story. I do believe that Chance was someone's pet... he just is so loving and social with people and animals. He isn't skittish or afraid at all. He also has proven to be totally house trained, but knows no other commands... yet! :) Although, at first I said that he kept picking things up in his mouth... he hasn't been doing that anymore. I really think it was because he was starving :( Now that he knows he will be fed on a regular basis he isn't so obsessed with finding out if everything is food! In fact, he is doing so well we will begin testing him with free roam. I'll let everyone know how that goes in the coming days.
Chance is already spending his nights on our bedroom floor on a dog bed and does just fine. He would probably prefer the bed... but the space is limited up there... so he has to be satisfied with a small amount of bed snuggle time once my husband or I get out of bed and space opens up a bit :)
All and all, this is one GREAT dog! He will be so happy to be someone's best friend!! I can't wait to find that for him ... for his sake! He is one of the easiest, most loving, sweet, and cute fosters we have ever had. If the inn wasn't full... he would already be home! :) If you are interested in learning more about Chance, I would love to talk to you. Contact: placementragom [dot] org
