Chance has been adopted as the shining only child of the M family, and he couldn’t be more excited about it! He immediately did a full walk-through to get familiar with his new home and found a spot to lay down.
After their last RAGOM dog from ‘08 passed of old age in April, Chance’s forever family was so happy to adopt him that they went to the extreme of taking down all Christmas lights and decorations to ensure a safe environment for Chance.
He is going to love his summers at their lake home (he loves water) and the neighbor kids who he will get to play with soon!

Chance came to RAGOM as his surrendering owner is having double hip replacement surgery and does not have the ability to keep up with Chance’s puppy energy and needs. Since arriving he has made himself right at home this past week!
He and our resident Golden Retriever Woodie have become best friends and play almost constantly. Woodie has gotten a little annoyed a couple of times because Chance does not want to stop playtime. But Woodie is too docile to act on it, so we do take them for separate time a little each day.
Chance loves to play fetch (and is surprisingly good at it for being so young), do zoomies around the backyard, play with the neighbor boys and any and every dog he can meet, and couch snuggle to wrap up the day.
He loves having a fenced yard to get out a lot of that pent-up energy! He is such a lover and expert couch snuggler. He is always by your hip and loves a good head scratch.
Although we have not personally had any experience with cats, Chance’s former family reported they had a cat that Chance never paid much mind to.
He has started to learn his name and come when called by it more frequently. But this is where we believe he could use the most work and would benefit from formal obedience training, as it appears he has never been taught the basics.
He also has some naughty habits that will take time to break as he came from being an outside dog. For example: jumping over furniture and onto tables and trying to steal any food you are eating. With his personality of wanting to please after a simple "off" he seems to be getting better about this behavior. It is important he not have unmonitored roaming to avoid hurting himself.
He is potty trained with only a few pee accidents the first few days he was here. We have begun crate training and he is doing great so far. We both work from home but when we have been gone or need to get work done, he does a great job laying down and relaxing.
He does, however, bark for 5 to 10 minutes when he is first put in his kennel if you leave but has come to find his crate as his safe space and has actually chosen to sleep in there and proactively go in when he is anxious. Would highly recommend a crate for whoever gets to keep him forever!
He has been to the vet and is up to date on his shots. He’s being treated for a double ear infection that should be all cleared up in the next two weeks. It is already getting better!
Chance is such a great boy! He would love a home with a family who has the time and patience for a young trainable puppy with the energy that comes with those cute puppy faces.
