Charlie 07-566

Profile

Charlie is a big beautiful boy who loves to play!  His owners had to give him up due to an illness in the family that prevented them from caring properly for Charlie.  They were very sad to have to let him go, but they wanted him to have the life he deserves.  He is about his ideal weight of 80 pounds, has a beautiful coat and a black spot on his tongue.  He enjoys toys, playing with the dogs, fetch, sleeping on the bed and counter surfing.  Charlie is 3 1/2, already neutered, up to date on vaccinations and has no health problems.  We had a very bad thunder storm last week and his owner said Charlie was fine - didn't bother him a bit.  Charlie seems like a wonderful, typical Golden that will some lucky family very happy.

Charlie went to the vet last week and got a microchip in and we found out his fecal sample was negative so he's good to go.  Charlie pulls like an ox on a flat collar so we have been using the Gentle Leader. He is getting used to it, but still tries to take it off and sometimes succeeds. We put it on him everytime we go in the car, too so he will start to associate it with a fun time. That has worked well with other dogs we have fostered.  He does love to go for a ride and I know he would do anything for that. Charlie likes to pull stuffing out of plush toys which is fine- we just to the thrift store and buy more for a dollar each. Sometimes he will also chew up paper he finds on the floor or in the bathroom waste basket.  We are learning to close those doors because Charlie will get his nose in and push it open all the way.  He loves people and gets very excited when we come home, so we are trying to teach him not to jump up on people as a greeting.  We have left dogs alone with free roam of the house for 4 or 5 hours with no problems.  Charlie grew up with 2 school age kids and loves our 2 year old grandson.  The only problem is he can knock over a toddler with a big kiss.   The owner also reported that Charlie has been trained to an invisible fence and she said he never tried to leave.  He is just a typical golden- big, happy, lovable, friendly, playful, goofy dog.
