Charlie is always on the move (except for the one time when he got tired and fell down on the dog bed he was playing with). And he's on the move one more time to his new home.
What a lucky dog he is. He's going to be a cop dog. Well, he's going to be a cop's dog. This family has made a commitment to take him on regular runs and play fetch with him. They already have him signed up for obedience classes starting this week and if he learns to sit long enough.... he might even get to go canoeing.
Have a great time with your new people, Charlie dog. You are going to be one happy pup.

Week two and Charlie keeps learning. He is not as "mouthy" as he was and he doesn't try jumping on you quite as much as he did the first week. It is important to try to stay out of his personal space as he tries to learn his boundaries.
He's very intelligent and is trying to learn, but Charlie is kind of like that young kid all hyped up on sugar. He just doesn't focus very long at this moment in his life and everything is a game.
We've been working with him on his sit, wait, here, and heel commands and he is improving each day. We had our first night of obedience class and he did exceptionally well considering there were plenty of distractions. He is certainly a social bug. There has been some training in his past home, so hopefully with more consistency and exercise things will come back to him.
He's not quite ready for a furry type dog bed. We know, because he's been trying to eat his (fluff everywhere). He's comfortable on a blanket (not a good one though). He has not tried eating the Christmas tree or other inappropriate items, so that is promising. He does have his own toy chair. Each day we put everything up for him and each day he takes half of everything back down.
Charlie has not tried chasing any cars but he did set his sights on the garbage truck and would have taken off after it had he not been confined. He will throw us an occasional bark if he is on his tie-out or is being ignored, but he is also responding to "no bark" and typically settles back in.
Charlie now has free roam of the house 24/7, has not done any counter surfing as we thought he might, and is getting along well with both cats. He even stood long enough to get a standing shot.
With consistency, exercise, and a little time to let his mind catch up to his body, Charlie is going make his new family a complete home. Continue to follow his trials and errors here to see if you're the right fit for his new home.

Charlie has been with us for a week and although he started out as ultra high energy, he is already settling into a routine and calming down. His routine, aside from eating and potty breaks, consists of two to four 20-minute walks a day and play time inside and out. He would love to play with our resident dog but she's not much of a team player.
Charlie is housebroken and does not appear to fear much, including the vacuum cleaner. He is often in your way, which is actually charming. He loves attention and is a bit mouthy, but he's learning his boundaries and is improving. He loves his multiple walks a day, and his most favorite game is tug-o-war. He will play it on his walks too, so a thick leash is required or he'll chew through it.
He will be starting obedience classes this week and would benefit from continued classes with his new family. Charlie has wonderful recall when there are limited distractions, so we know that he can excel in other commands. He will now sit and wait for his food to be put down but would rather be moving.
Charlie perks up when he hears a vehicle pull into the driveway and greets you at the door with a happy face. He's learning that jumping on you is not an approved dog game and recently received a new box of toys to play with instead.
This pup is always on the move but he does sleep, too. During the day he has free roam of the lower level of the house when we are away. When we are home and at night he as free roam, and we have not had any issues. He sleeps very peacefully at the foot of our bed each night.
At the moment Charlie is sharing his home with two cats. With slow introductions he is now doing well with them. He would, however, love for them to run so that he can chase them. A dog-savvy cat is a must if he's going to share his new home with one.
You'll see by the photos that Charlie has a serious side, playful side, happy side, and a sneaky side. We have not seen him grumpy yet. (He moves too much to get a standing shot. Maybe next week.) Follow Charlie's journey as he searches for his new people.
