When it's 85 degrees in October, you are basically required to throw a pool party. Bishop and Charlie had a great time, right up until we capped off the event with a b-a-t-h. He was very patient for his bath and brushing.
To the best of our knowledge this is the first time that Charlie has lived with cats. So far so good. He did get into a growling/hissing match with our "mean" cat, but we broke that up for Charlie's safety. That cat isn't taking any guff from a silly foster dog. I think that at most he would love to play a good game of chase, but would not hurt a cat. He is happily sharing the window view from the back of the couch with one of our cats as I type.
Charlie was previously described as a mellow boy, but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore. Don't get me wrong, he is a wonderful 1 year old puppy -- but he is a 1 year old puppy with all the energy and mischief that comes with it. This is truly a testament to the work that his previous family did with him, because they built up his self-confidence to the point where he feels comfortable being a normal dog! Charlie is used to being crated during the day and at night because he is still a young puppy who doesn't always make the most appropriate choices when it comes to entertaining himself. However, when we are home he has free roam of the house and has not gotten into any trouble.
One other thing you should know about Charlie is that he is a burper. I think this is just his way of letting you know when he has enjoyed a good meal or a satisfying big slurp from the water bowl (ok, for that you can also tell by the trail of drips across the kitchen floor).
We are sure that Charlie will not be with us long, so we are enjoying all the time we have with him.
