SRNM (single Red neutered male) seeks forever home                                     4/2/2010

Hi my name is Chase and I am looking for love.  I am a 5 ½ years old purebred Golden -all 117 pounds of pure Golden baby! They say blondes have more fun, but I say redheads rule!  I have grown up from wild years and ready to settle down for the long term with someone special. I am a tall, dark and handsome boy.  I love long walks, romantic dinners in the kitchen, cuddling for hours and giving as much love as I can possibly fit into a day.  I will bring love, companionship and my quirky sense of humor- can you provide the loving home, belly rubs and food?

I have to say, I do have a few extra pounds, but that is just more of me to love you! Plus, it means we can spend more time together walking and playing- great bonding time! I am not a big talker, but I will let you know if there is a problem.  Ok, I do have to admit, I have been told I snore. But who doesn't?

My surrendering home was so sad to see me go- sometimes people have health issues that have to be cared for and it was because she loved me so much, she let me go. I know she would want me to find love again in a great forever home.

I am a great catch! I am housetrained, know my commands like sit, stay, and shake, am great on the leash, have been around kids, love to give kisses and lean in for them, am a gentle eater and really just want to be wherever you are- lying at your feet or at your side!

I am all vaccinated and ready to go! So far, I have liked the other dogs I have lived with but need a little bit of time to get used to the new situation and new dogs.  However, I am not a fan of cats. Let's keep it a canine house.

So when should we meet and have our first date?  All you have to do is contact your Placement Advisor - so have your people call my people!

Here are my stats:

Birthday: 9/30/2004

Height: about 28" at the shoulder

Weight: 117 pounds (remember I am tall too!)

Hair: Red

Eyes: Brown

Tail: Full and beautiful and a thumper!

Favorite toy: Tennis ball

Favorite pastime: Walking with the love of my life and fetch

At a Glance #10-089

Golden Retriever Born: September 2004

Just dropping in for another visit to let everyone know that Chase is happy & healthy. He’s about 7 ½ years old now and tends to sleep a little more and have a little less energy, but he’s the same goofy dude he has always been.

One thing I forgot to mention before. Chase is NOSEY! With the warmer weather and the windows open it has become more obvious than I even remember from the previous warm weather months. Any little noise he hears he is up and darting for a window or door….might I add, with little regard for drapes or blinds! He just shoves them aside or flings them up over his head with his nose. He just HAS to see what is going on outside. It’s quite funny. He has even been caught sleep barking. If another neighborhood dog is barking and he’s asleep, he’ll respond with some half-hearted “woofs” without even waking up.

Here he is with one of his many friends.

Chase is still a professional food thief. The minute he notices everyone is gone from a room, watch out! We do what I refer to as a “Chase-proofing” before we can leave the house. All garbage has to be taken out, all counters cleared off, all cupboards shut tight. Inevitably, something gets missed and trust me, Chase finds it. It’s become something of a challenge! I snapped this shot when he thought I wasn’t looking. My son was eating pizza and got up to answer the door. Look who I found lurking when I peeked around to look!

He is such a sweet boy that you can’t stay mad at him for long. He knows that when I get home it’s time to eat so I get the happy dance near his dish when I walk in the door, and at night all I have to say is, “Ready Chase?” and he runs right in and jumps up on my bed. I usually have to coax him off of my pillow because he beats me there, but once he’s situated he’s snoring in minutes.

Hope to be back soon with more Chase news! Thanks again RAGOM for my precious golden and for all that you do!!

I’m sorry it’s been so long since I sent an update. Chase is WONDERFUL!  He has been a member of our family for over 6 months now and we couldn’t be happier with him.  He’s big and sweet and gentle and GOOFY!!  He makes me laugh on a regular basis.  He’s a Velcro dog and likes to be where someone is, even if that means squeezing his big body into/onto small places.

He’s very patient and gentle, and believe me this is honorable with some of the things the kids do to him.

I like to call this “Merry Chase-mas” And even though he doesn’t look thrilled I think he was more upset that they were disturbing his nap time!  He takes his naps very seriously and only likes them to be disturbed if it involves belly rubs.

He is still leery of strange places and babies.  He gets very nervous and requires extra attention whenever either one come into play.  We brought him with to grandma’s for Christmas, and he spent much of his time hiding under the Christmas tree….guess he only likes to go to grandma’s when he can be outside!!

He’s suffering from a bit of the winter blues right now, but aren’t we all?  He stares forlornly out the window, and sighs.  Poor guy!  We could both stand some nice weather to get out and shed a few pounds.  Especially since Mr. Chase eats anything that’s not stored 7 feet off the floor or nailed down, including coffee grounds, bread, and his favorite….butter.  I even put the butter in a sealed container, but Houdini got the lid off with a minimal number of teeth marks.  He’s too funny!!!

Thanks again RAGOM for allowing me the opportunity to share my life with this wonderful fur ball!

From Chase's forever family...

Chase has been a member of our family for just over a week, and I can't even begin to tell you how much we love him already! I feel like he was a special gift sent to us to shine a big, bright, golden ray of sunshine on our home.

He has taken quite a liking to "his" kids, who love him equally. Lacking for love and attention he is not!! He's definitely our Velcro dog, and we wouldn't want it any other way. I especially love how if he hears my car keys jingle he's standing at the front door like Houdini transported him there, ready for his ride in the car.

He romps in the backyard freely, and if we are out in the front yard with Chase on his tie-out, he lays in the grass and takes in all the sights and smells, and rolls around in the grass to scratch his back. Even when the neighborhood dogs bark, he looks at me as if to say, "what's their problem?". His facial expressions are hilarious! I think he'd behave the same way without the tie-out, but we have a few outdoor cats who wander the neighborhood, and he doesn't appreciate their presence very much...better to be safe than sorry!!

I, on the other hand, may need a little training! Let’s just say that Chase has had a few unplanned “treats” this week. Someone….ok, me….accidently left a bowl of baked beans on the counter when I left to run an errand. The bowl was licked clean when I got home! He hasn’t attempted to touch a thing if anyone’s home, but leave him alone and the counters and the garbage are fair game. I’m learning!!!

I’ve included a couple photos of Chase with his “Wubba”, the toy of choice.

First, I am so sorry it has been so long since I have written!  It has been a busy couple of weeks!

I had to go to the vet for my ears.  I have small ear canals and so they don't clear out as well as they should. So I have build up and it gets ugly.  Now we know we have to wash my ears out about every three days. Along with wiping my paws (I get inter-digit irritations), I am learning to tolerate the cleaning- especially since I get a treat afterwards when I am a good boy!

We also found out that I have some sort of allergy.  We aren't sure yet what the allergy is - once we get my ears and foot cleared up, we will start working on finding out more on that.  My coat and skin look great- I am a handsome boy after all, but we have to find out why my feet itch so much that I suck on them.

For some GOOD news, while I was at the vet's office, they also took my weight and I am proud to say that I am now a svelte 108#! I have some more to go, but I am making great progress!

I still love the spring weather, especially since it brings out birds and rabbits- what fun it is to chase them around the yard!!  I dart out and they move fast - I actually look back at my foster mom and SMILE! I haven't caught one yet- but I keep trying!

Well, I will update you again soon! Remember, Chase is the name and loving is my game! Contact your placement advisor to meet me- the handsome Chase!

Today I had a little adventure going to work with my foster mom for a short time.  I love car rides and was happy hanging out in the back seat looking at the cars go by!

Do I LOVE meeting new people? YES!  And everyone loved meeting me – they all said what a handsome and well behaved boy I am.  I met all kinds of people and I just came and sat down by them and let them pet me and love on me… it was great!  I do have a wildly strong tail- knocked off some stuff from the desks, but that's okay – didn't break anything.

I also discovered that tennis balls thrown on floor tile can make me slide across the floor when I am chasing it! Whew- that was fun – could have done that for hours! I was actually smiling after playing that!

What am I looking for in a forever home?

  • Love
  • Some play time
  • Love
  • Some walk time
  • Love
  • Belly rubs
  • Love
  • Ear scratching

I really have a lot of love to give! I know 117# sounds like a lot, but I am tall.  Please don't let my size scare you – I am a gentle boy! Big and beautiful!

Call your placement advisor today to meet me, Chase – I can't wait to meet my forever home!

Happy Monday!!

What a beautiful weekend we had and I got out and enjoyed the weather.  I love my walks- and I am so good on the leash- I am actually teaching my foster sisters how to behave better on the leash! I have settled in to my foster home and really comfortable with the other dogs in the house and the neighborhood.

I still get a little anxious and a little growly around new dogs – so it may take me a little time to get used to new dogs, but I do come around! I have to get to know them and understand that I don’t have to be on the defense.  Gosh, I was only in my new house a few days before we got all settled and play together.

This weekend my foster sister and I even chased the rabbits in the yard together.  We had a lot of fun!  Good thing my foster mom gave them the heads up because I think I could have caught them!  Good thing for that fence!

I was going out special this weekend so I got a mini grooming!  I like to get brushed!  Let me rephrase that – I LOVE to get brushed!  I sat down and let my foster mom brush me and I just smiled! I got a little uncomfortable when she got near my bottom, but it could be that I am a little snarled – so my foster mom is going to buy some detangler and see if that helps. But did I mention what a handsome boy I am??  Even better looking after a brushing- and I didn't think that was possible.

We also cleaned my ears.  This we have to do about every other day because I have a small ear canal and they don't clear themselves out that well.  But I let my foster mom do the cleaning and don't complain – I know that I will feel better when she does it! I even sometimes close my eyes and sigh with relief!

Tennis balls will be a necessity in the house.  I love to play with the tennis balls – I carry them in my mouth and if there is more than one, try to get them all in my mouth! I have a great sense of humor!

Call your placement advisor and tell them you want to meet Chase – I am looking for a great family – and I will bring so much love and joy to your home!

Hello! I hope you all had a good weekend - mine was GREAT!!

The weather was great so I spent a lot of time outside with my foster sisters and foster mom.  We are still learning a lot about each other, so let me fill you in:

  • I LOVE to chase- I think that I am just living up to my name Chase!  Saturday morning we got mom up pretty early to go out and she hadn't had her coffee—but I saw the birds and BOOM I was gone after them.  Thankfully she has a fenced yard and the birds saw me coming! I know that I will have to have a fenced yard so everyone is safe.  Doesn't mean I am a bad doggie- means that I have to have boundaries! I have heard there are bunnies in the area… stay tuned!
  • I found out that although I like to be up on the furniture,  when my foster mom says off, I stay off or will get down off the furniture if she didn't catch me beforehand J  I am a little sneaky, but…   So she sits on the floor with me – that works too! Then I can give the great face wash of kisses!
  • My foster mom found out that I LOVE to cuddle- more so that she knew.  We sat on the family room floor for hours upon hours this weekend– I got a great belly rub, got my ears cleaned (I actually LOVE this!), ears scratched, paws massaged. Man, this is the life! But I paid her back by being such a good boy!
  • I love to go on walks! I am not crazy about the gentle leader, but at 117#, it is the best bet for all of us because I can be a handful with all this beautiful body! I have some momentum behind that so I am pretty strong too! I did notice some birds and small doggies out – so it was a good thing we had the gentle leader on.  I listen so much better!
  • I learned that I am not crazy about my neighbor dogs on the other side of the fence.  But I think (and so does my foster mom) that it is because we haven't been properly introduced.  We bark at each other through the fence but maybe this weekend we can meet and be friends!
  • Good news is that there are also three boy dogs behind me and we just pretty much ignore each other now. We bark in hello and then it is over.  It just seems to be the boy and girl next door that I have an issue with right now.
  • I have learned to sit and wait for dinner! There are three dogs in this house and we all sit and stay for dinner- I have had a little issue with protecting my food, so we are working on that.  The dishes are put in front of us (tempting!) and we can't start eating until my foster mom says OK.  That was hard for a long time, but I am really learning.  My foster mom says I am smart!
  • I found that I have a little bit of a jealous streak in me.  Some friends of my foster came over to visit this weekend and I wanted to be the center of attention- but the other dogs tried to get their attention as well.  I pushed them out of the way, I didn't growl or bite or anything, but my foster mom knows that is something we have to work on. There is more than enough love to go around!

Ok, so I will keep you updated on my life.  If you think I will fit in your home, please contact your placement advisor and tell them Chase is the one you want to meet!  Ok, nap time… it is very tough to type on the computer this much with my big paws.  Thank goodness for spell check!
