Welcome Chester! What a handsome, sweet boy! Chester was surrendered to RAGOM because the owner had too many dogs and cats, they could no longer care for him properly. His housemates Dougie and Betsy were also surrendered and are now in foster care.
Chester had been with the SO since a puppy. He is 1 1/2 years old, born July 10, 2009. He was neutered on Nov. 29 and is UTD on his vaccines. Chester weighs 58 pounds and looks a little thin. I'm guessing he should be about 7-10 pounds heavier. As you can see from his pictures he has a very handsome face and gentle smile. A little love bug:)
Now on to the good stuff about Chester or should I call him Cuddles. He is a true gentlemen. So sweet and well behaved. Chester is always at my side or following me around. I worry he doesn't get enough rest because he is so attached. He has been in our home for 3 weeks now. It only took him 2 hours the first day to feel safe. He was retrieving and playing with our daughters ages 12 and 10 immediately. I was also surprised how well he took to meeting our resident dog. They are both males and the same age. I think they might be brothers...they bonded so quickly.
I was also amazed at how well he listens. He comes when you call his name (better then any dog I have had in my home) and can sit on command. We are working on shake as a trick. Chester is house trained. He also hasn't chewed on anything besides dog toys.
We have a routine that works for all of us. We take 2 long walks a day. I don't think he had that much experience taking walks. But he is great..he does not pull and likes to walk at your side. If you say the word "outside" he runs to the door. I am home with him all day so that helps but have left him for up to 5 hours alone so far. We do not crate him and the SO hadn't either. We don't have a fence so we do everything on leash outside. He is totally fine with this. But again I am very impressed how well he listens when you say "Chester come".
