Clark 08-542

Profile

Lewis and Clark are brothers that have just recently come into foster care.  They are puredbred with AKC papers, lighter in color, and are neutered.  They are the most wonderful dogs and we are madly in love with them already!  I don't think I have ever been around dogs as easy to care for and loving as these guys.  They were littermates who are hoping to stay together, but we know that might not be possible.
Clark is just a bundle of joy!  He sooo is sweet and always loves to be near people.  He will sit and be petted for as long as someone is willing to pet him.  He is 4 years old and is roughly 80 pounds, but will be confirmed after a vet check up visit.  He is the one with the whiter face in the pictures.
He is great around kids, and our dog just loves him.  He rarely barks and is completely housetrained.  He is used to free roam and never makes trouble when he has free roam. He is a very mellow dog. I would say his only flaw is that he likes to jump up on people sometimes to give them love and give us the honor to look into his beautiful eyes.  That can be easily corrected.  Clark does not countersurf, but does like to sit near the table while we are eating. Lewis is definitely dominant over Clark and takes Clark's toys and bones, even if Lewis already has one or two of his own.  So if Lewis and Clark do not stay together, Clark would definitely flourish as an only dog or with another dog.
We gave both Lewis and Clark each a good bath on their first night here, and they were both angels in the shower.  Both of them also stood perfectly still the entire time that we were cutting mats out of their fur before the bath.  They are now so soft and smell good!  Our first night ended with them sleeping on the floor next to our bed with our dog.

They are very happy here and have adjusted immediately.

This is from Lewis and Clark's new family. They are so great and the dogs look so happy!

They have made it through their first day and night beautifully.  This is the boys with their new fur sister Gracie.  We miss you guys but we know you are so happy and spoiled where you are!  Cami just doesn't know what to do around the house without you!

Lewis and Clark are so wonderful and every day we get to know them more and more.  Lewis really looks after his brother.  He will lick his head and ears.  When Clark is still outside, Lewis will make sure he is safe by keeping watch.

These are just two wonderful cuddle bunnies!!

We have found that Clark loves Animal Planet on TV!  It is so fun to watch him watching TV.

Hello!

Clark is the most amazing dog with so much love to give.  I cannot believe he has only been with us for less than a week!  He just walks into your life and immediately into your heart as soon as you meet him.   He loves to lie by the front door with his brother during the day or he will sit with me in the living room.  He LOVES to be brushed.

Clark is now starting to chew bones and carry a toy around a little bit.  It is like he had never been around one before and is all so new to him.
I can't tell you what a joy it is every morning to get up and as my feet are touching the ground both Lewis (08-541) and Clark are right there standing up with me ready to start the day with their tails wagging!

I did find that when their is activity across the street, or someone coming to the door, the boys will give out a bark.  It is just their way of saying hi, but boy does it make me feel safer at night knowing these guys are next to me in case anything bad ever did happen.
Have a mentioned how well behaved these boys are?
Clark went to the vet today with a very clean bill of health.  He weighs about 68 pounds and the vet says he does need to put on a few pounds.
I would really like to keep Lewis (08-451) and Clark together.  They fit together so well and it is no extra trouble to have both of them rather than just the one.  I do think they would do best in a home that has some sort of fence.  They have wandered their whole life and even though they are really good on a tie-out, I think they would be so much happier being able to roam freely around the yard.  If Clark is not on a tie out or in a fenced in area, he will tend to wander.

These are just the sweetest guys.
