I would like to introduce Miss Cody! She is approximately 8-years-old and a beautiful lighter colored golden. She arrived at our house on Saturday and we’re still getting to know her, but I wanted to share her with everyone checking the web-site. She is such a happy girl and is a typical golden with LOVING attention and needing to put her paw on you. She met our resident dog with no issues and is reported to get along with cats and kids. We have not tested either of those yet.

Cody likes to carry toys around and will collect them where she’s laying. She’s claimed a spot by the dining room table where there are about 10 toys circling where she lays. We haven’t had any destructive behavior with toys yet or any issues with her getting into things she shouldn’t in the house. She respects baby gates and stays in the kitchen with our resident while we’re at work, but I think Cody would be fine with free roam. She has been accident free in the house! She’s really a perfect house guest overall.

Her vet visit went well. There were no major health concerns. Her teeth are a little worn/dirty, but she doesn’t have any arthritis or signs of aging (besides some white on her face). She really seems to act younger than her age if she is 8. The only things we need to do now is have her fixed before going to her forever family and that is scheduled for this week still.

Cody was a breeding dog when she was younger and was debarked. She pants, but unfortunately cannot cry or bark. She is looking for a loving family who will be able to give her lots of attention. I don’t think she would have any aggression towards children, but due to her size (65 pounds) I would prefer her not go to a home with children under 6 because she could knock them over when she wants attention. She can be an only dog as she doesn’t have a lot of interest in our resident and a fence would be preferred. Please let your placement advisor know if you would like to meet this happy girl!

WOW! Cody and I would like to thank Mike and Stacy so much for sponsoring her! It is greatly appreciated and it goes to such a great cause with our fosters and helping RAGOM continue to help these beautiful dogs. Thank you so much! Cody has given you 2 paws up and here's how she reacted when I told her! She was overwhelmed.

We had a wonderful weekend with Cody at the cabin! She got to watch turkeys out the window and take naps on the pontoon while we were fishing. Cody even tried swimming again! She isn’t afraid of water at all and had the doggy paddle with her front legs down… her back legs on the other hand sort of floated up like a frog and didn’t paddle. Lol… I’m sure it felt good to cool off in and she seems determined to figure it out.

Cody also met her forever family! She now has a fur sister adopted from RAGOM to run with as well as the company of cats, parrots and sheep. We’re excited about Cody’s new life where she will have room to explore on a hobby farm and receive lots of love in her new family. Congratulations to Cody and her new family!

Cody continues to be an incredibly happy girl! We have gotten out on a couple of walks again now that the weather has cooled off. I put a harness on her, but there probably wouldn't be any issues walking her on a flat collar. She's not all crazy and is an easy walking partner. We also tried her with water this week to see if she likes to swim. She didn't have any problems walking in it and going as deep as she could touch. Her feet left the ground a couple times for a second to get a ball. I was glad to see she wasn't scared, so it may just take a few times for her to get used to swimming. Have I mentioned she loves balls?! She plays fetch with tennis balls and he tail is wagging the whole time getting it and bringing it back. The let go part could use some work, but that's ok. I've included a picture this week of her bringing the ball and plant back. lol...

We've had company over at our house a few times this week and she's always happy to meet people and get more attention. Cody has not shown any aggression since we've had her. I've been able to take toys out of her mouth with no problems and pet her while she's eating. She has met other dogs with no issues as well.

Cody really is a great girl looking to live a happy golden life that matches the smile on her face. Her belly is a little stretched out from having so many puppies in her younger years. She tries to bark on occasion and only air comes out since she was debarked in the past. Cody is definitely ready to meet her new family and settle into her furever home. Please, let your placement advisor know if you're ready to fall in love with this beauty. :)

Cody had an exciting first week with us and has now settled in nicely. She was updated at the vet the first week and was also fixed. She recovered really quickly and is doing great! We also took her with us up to the cabin last weekend where we found out she wasn't a fan of fireworks. There were some that went off down the road and she wanted to go in the house to find a safe spot to lay. She had done fine with the loud thunderstorms the week before though. Cody rode on the pontoon to go fishing with us and wanted to jump off a couple times when we opened the gate. We couldn't let her in the water since she was just spayed, so I'm not sure if she really likes it or not.

I really can't say enough good things about Cody! She has definitely relaxed over the second week with us. She walks around the house and yard like she's been here forever now. The first week she really stuck by my side or went to her safe spot in the house. Her favorite toy is a kong, especially when it has peanut butter in it! :) I added a picture of her with a kong and another to show how she can lay like a lady. She always looks like she's smiling and is happy. We've had so many compliments on how beautiful she is and what a good girl. We've been working on more commands with her now. She knows her name and comes really well. She also knows sit. I've been having her sit and wait for her food in order to teach her wait. She's a smart girl and definitely wants to please! Cody can be kind of needy with wanting attention at times, but she is also good with just laying down in the same room you're in and chewing on a toy or taking a nap.

We went on a walk again yesterday now that she's recovered from her spay surgery. I put a harness on her, but she walks well on her flat collar too. It was warm out, so we didn't go too far. Someone is going to be very lucky to have Cody and share her love! She is ready to go to her forever home and is patiently waiting for the right one to come along.
