From Cody's (fka Blaze) forever family...

We adopted Cody (Blaze 06-026) in February 2006, when he was about 10 weeks old. Cody has brought so much joy into our lives! He is a great companion at home and for jogs throughout the neighborhood. He is a golden-retriever mix, and his most definite characteristic is he almost always holds his right ear up in the air while his left ear flops down.

He loves going to the cabin, and fetching the ball in the water is definitely his favorite activity. He would swim and fetch all day if our arm would keep up!

Blaze is getting so big! I'm sending in a few new pix, since he is growing up quickly. He's had a very busy week, as I was out of town and he went to stay with another foster and her dog. Again, Blaze did great and has proven to adapt very easily to new situations. As long as he has a playmate (two- or four-legged, we're all the same to Blaze), is cuddled, loved and fed, he's a happy guy. Nonetheless, all of us fosters who've had the pleasure of knowing little Blaze want him to find his dream home - he deserves nothing less.

A few specifics... he's sleeping 6-7 hours at night, gets up to potty once, but if it's too early in the morning, he's pretty easy to coax back into bed for a bit. He is a fabulous eater - 3 meals a day (for now), each gone within 2 minutes (tops). He still has a few accidents in the house, but is well on his way to being potty-trained. One of my favorite things is that he's such a great communicator... you laugh, but it's true. He has many different "voices" to let you know how he's feeling... some might say he's a little dramatic about it, but that's what we love about him! Overall, he's an adorable little pup with a big personality and a lot of love to give. Let us know if want to meet him.

What can I say... this little guy is a doll! I am sitting here typing and he is laying at my feet, on his back, spread eagle, without a care in the world. Of course this is after a day of hard play in his new foster home.

Blaze came to stay with us yesterday. The puppies are now old enough to be adopted and it was time for Blaze to leave his brother Jester. Aside from a little whining when we went to bed last night, he's adapted incredibly well. Blaze is a joy to have around, is such a curious little pup, and seems to learn very quickly. He was hesitant on the back steps yesterday for about a minute... then he saw his foster brother Mason do it (who is a full-grown, almost 2 year old) and, sure enough, down he went. Now he bounds up them as fast as he can.

Blaze's former foster mom was nice enough to take him to the vet yesterday so he's had his second set of shots, was micro-chipped, and is worm-free! I think he weighed in at 11 lbs. Bottom line, this guy is quite the catch so if you're looking for a precocious little puppy, don't wait too long... (or I might get too attached).

Oh my gosh, the time is flying by. Blaze is such a character. He is starting to pull out of his "I am a brut" shell and really wants attention. This morning he made it perfectly clear to his foster dad that it was time to pick him up and give him some much needed love. So he got a full five minutes of uninterrupted love and he was a happy guy. I would not have believed it a week ago that he would want that much attention, but he did.

Blaze is doing great on potty training. He goes to the door and cries, if he is in the play pen or crate he also cries to get out so he can go. Blaze is not a great sleeper but I honestly think it is just a matter of giving him a little bit of hard play before bedtime with a walk or something. Also, Jester is sleeping with him and I think that ticks Blaze off. They tend to feed off each other.

If you are interested in meeting this wonderful little boy, please let Placementatragom [dot] org know. I know he would do great with a home of his own.

Blaze has arrived in beautiful Apple Valley and is doing well. This little boy has the most beautiful eyes. They have a little green/blue color to them. Blaze is such a cute thing at almost 7 weeks - he must weigh close to 10 pounds, but that is because he LOVES to eat. He needs a diet. Blaze is a soft golden color with short little legs and short hair. What a cutey.

I have both Blaze and Jester 06-027, Blaze tends to beat up on Jester so he must have been the brut of the crowd. I am sure his foster mom was ready to give up all the kids so she could get a good night's sleep.

I will be able to tell you more about Blaze's temperament in the next few days, but just wanted everyone to know that he is out and looking for his forever home. If you would like to meet this boy, please email placement and we can set up a meeting.
