Hello! My name is Comet. FM thought I should tell you a little about myself since no one knows me better than me. I am a PB 3 year old neutered male that weighs 105lbs. I know that's a lot but my new foster family assured me I would get plenty of exercise. I have never bitten anyone or have any history of aggression. I love kids of all ages but since I am so big toddlers may not like me. I get along with dogs but have no experience with cats. I will nudge you if I want to be pet (which is a lot). :) I used to be an outside dog. I say used to because FM says that my days of being an outside dog are over. It's kind of strange being able to stay inside but I think I could get used to it fast. FM is making an appointment for me to see the vet soon. I currently have an ear infection but I am on medication to fix that.

I can't wait to find a forever family of my own. So if you don't mind a big dog that may need to lose a couple pounds and slobbery kisses then I am the dog for you! If interested please contact placementatragom [dot] org.  Hope to hear from my forever home soon -- until then I will keep you posted on how well I am doing.

My family dog sat Comet last week for a few days. I wanted to let anyone interested in Comet know what a wonderful boy he is. He was a bit nervous the first day but quickly warmed up to show his personality. He is very gentle and friendly, followed me wherever I went. He did not want to sleep on our bed though - preferred to sleep under it. He really enjoyed our walks - does well on his leash with only minor pulling. He really likes playing tug and tennis balls. He started a game with my kids in which he would grab a toy and make them chase him around the house, going in circles around chairs, etc. He is a bit of a beggar, but otherwise very well behaved. He thought he was in heaven the day we took him to my mom's house with a fenced yard and grilled hamburgers.

Hello! We wanted to send a little update since Comet has now been here for a couple of days. He is finally starting to settle in. The first couple of days he was pacing and panting constantly. He has been good with our resident dogs for the most part, but we have had an issue with trying to establish dominance between them (Comet tries to mount them). Since he has been here he has had no accidents in the house so I think if it continues I will consider him housetrained. He likes to sleep in his crate but I am sure he would sleep anywhere you let him, but for right now we are keeping him crated. He has been totally good with the kids but because of his size he has a tendency to knock the little one down. Of course this is not intentional, I just think he thinks he's a smaller dog. He loves to chew on ropes, bones and the tennis ball is his favorite! We have been giving him his ear infection medication and he will see the vet on Friday. Comet knows a couple commands (sit and down) and is very food motivated. We bought lite dog biscuits since I am sure he will be considered overweight by the vet. He also has lite food but hasn't really eaten a lot since he's been here. Another issue I will ask the vet about but I think it's more of an environment change issue than anything else. He has been on the Gentle Leader a couple of times. Each time he has tried to remove it but after a bit settles down and walks nicely. He still pulls a little but nothing like he would without it. We will continue to work on this as he stays here with us.

Comet is an absolute doll. He is one of the cutest and biggest GR I have ever seen. But with big stature comes a big heart. He loves attention and I think he will be a great dog for someone. So if you have a lot of love to give, then this big guy is the dog for you. I would love to see him find the forever home he so deserves. I have added some better pictures to show just how beautiful a dog he is. If you're interested contact placementatragom [dot] org
