We would like to welcome Cole to the Ragom family. Cole arrived on Friday all the way from South Dakota. Thanks to Rona & Kathy & Amy for bringing him to Minnesota. Cole will be fostered in Richfield, MN.
Let me tell you what I have learned about Cole so far. He is estimated to be 12 months to 15 months old PB Golden. When he originally came in they thought more 2-3 yrs, but that's not the case. He is a youngster. He is red in color with blonde feathering. His feathering is still coming in so that's another reason the vet says he young. He is a smaller golden weight at 56 lbs, a nice size. He was found as a stray so we don't know much about him. But I believe he came from a good home because he looks like he was well taken care of.
He knows a couch is for jumping up on and so is the bed. But he is learning the word "No". We don't allow our dogs on the furniture so he has his own bed and a crate. He crates very well with no issues. I believe he was used to a crate before us. He is also housetrained; no accidents in the 5 days I have fostered him. Yay! He sleeps in his crate at night and during the day while I am at work. Not a peep out of him. So far the only thing he destroyed was a stuffed toy.
He is UTD, neutered, fecal negative, and heartworm negative too. He was just neutered last week so he is still healing. He had a small lesion taken off his back leg also so he has stitches there and stitches from his neuter. It is really hard to keep him quiet since he was in boarding for a week or more, but we are trying to slow him down. Yeah right.
Cole met the resident, female dog Timber, without issues. She's 4 and hyper so they should be a good match.
He has alot of puppy energy in him, but he settles down in the house when told to. He knows "sit", "stay", and "down". We are working on the wait part. He likes to tease Timber and take her balls. But she lets him, so that's a good thing because then there's no problems with resource guarding.
He is very respectful of her, and knows when to read her signals. Cole is very easy going. Young but settles down when Timber's not around otherwise wants to play.
Vacuums don't bother him . No anxieties, no resource guarding. I can pet him and take food away from him while he's eating.
Cole Loves everybody. Cole met the resident grand-dog Champ who is 5 yrs and 100 lbs. Cole wanted to play with Champ too.
So this is what I would like for his forever home.
1. A physical fence (since he was a stray)
2. Obedience classes.
3. Lots of cuddle time. He would very much like to sleep with someone too.
4. A playmate would be nice since he's young and needs to be worn out. A tired dog is a happy dog.
5.Kids over 6 yrs old just because he is a puppy still and jumps up. He needs to be worked with to correct the jumping.
Cole is a great little golden. Full of life & energy. He has wormed his way into our hearts in the short 5 days he has been with us.
Timber has taken to him very well. She plays with him & shares her toys, She usually takes a couple of weeks to play with the foster dogs, but Cole is different so he must be a great dog. He is almost perfect! The only draw back right now is he is a little Velcro. I do believe once he knows he is there to stay he will be less Velcro. Cole is laying by the door in the computer room as I type his update.
I was told he was fine with cats, but I don't have a cat so we could test him if the family that adopts him has one.
Cole will make a great companion a great family pet. He's so cute!!!
Here's some pictures of Cole & resident dog Timber.
