Cooper Riley (Pongo 02-054)

Profile

My name is Pongo. I am a beautiful, sweet little boy in need of a family that can give me a lot of hugs, kisses and love. I am approximately 14 months old but the wild puppy energy in me is all but gone. I am happy just sitting close to my family and letting them pet and hug me. (Did I mention that I give lots of puppy kisses?) So far in my life, I have not had a great deal of food to eat so I am very skinny right now, but my foster mom assures me that food is plentiful and I should fill out a bit over time. Also, because I have not had a lot of food, my coat is on the short and thin side. I do have a beautiful golden coat that will, in time, showcase my wonderful personality. Bad habits? Yeah, I have a few but that is because no one has taught me basic obedience or manners yet. If you are willing to be patient with me and teach me the "rules," I am ready to learn. I do however, know that the potty is outside and not in the house.

My perfect "forever family" will not have any other dogs - even though I have lived with as many as 30 other dogs at one time, and I can and do get along with them, I don't really like to have them too close to me and will let them know how I feel. Conflicts over attention and space may be a problem for me.

Also, my foster mom says that I need to go to the vet and be neutered and then I can go to my "real" home. If you can give me that home, let RAGOM know so I can meet you.

Ragom,

We adopted Cooper Riley (who then was known as Pongo) 8 years ago from your organization. He was 2 years old and we fell in love with him instantly.

We had to put him down 2 weeks ago because over a short period of time he developed a very aggressive form of bone cancer that moved to his blood stream. It is honestly the hardest thing I have ever had to do and I miss him every single day.

I just wanted to take the time to thank you for your organization and let you know that Cooper was the best thing that happened to me and my family. When Cooper became ill we received dozens of phone calls from friends and family. Not only did Cooper touch our lives, but also the lives of so many others.

He was my best friend and the love of my life. He was always known as such a "sweetie." He's one of the few dogs in the world that you could sleep on as a pillow. He was my little snuggle bug. Every night I'd say the word "sleepover" and he would run into my room and wait by my bed. As soon as he got the ok, he'd jumped right into his spot. He loved to cuddle. Anytime I or anyone in the family was sad or ill he never left our side. He filled our home with laughs and so much love the past 8 years and I can't thank your organization enough for bringing such a blessing into my life.

I'll never forget my little Coop and I wish more than anything everyday he was still here.
