Darcy came into RAGOM's care when she was retired from the breeding life. Darcy is a bit overweight and arrived with ear infections but is otherwise healthy. Darcy is a sweet girl but is very fearful of new situations and people and needs time to slowly adjust to home life. She requires a medium/large confident dog companion and a physical fence to keep her safe. Although skittish, Darcy can live with children age 10+. Darcy's new family will need patience as she learns to live as a house dog.

Hello, everyone. This is Darcy, the prettiest Golden girl, greeting you!

I want to share the great news with you - my ear infection is gone, completely gone, no more face-rubbing, no more brownish stuff. I have been off medication for a week! Whew, what a relief!

Hi from Lady Darcy
Hi from Lady Darcy

Foster Mom has brought me on various excursions. She wanted to see how I would react to new people and dogs.

This past weekend, we attended a doggie playdate with 6 to 7 dogs for about 45 minutes. I did great. I greeted each dog appropriately and got a lot of petting from their parents, too. Everyone I met believed I was a good and happy girl, and they wanted to take me home, seriously.

I love my foster mom and my foster brother, and I follow them all the time. I do not bother my feline brother, either; generally, we ignore each other. When I see a rabbit or a squirrel on a walk, I do get a little excited, but as soon as Foster Mom tells me to ignore it, I will pass without an issue.

Sometimes when I meet a stranger, I am still a little cautious. Did Foster Mom tell you I was an observer? I use my intelligence to determine whom I can trust. Pretty much all the humans I have met so far have been trustworthy, so I give them the privilege to pet me and rub my ears.

At home, I always flip over for tummy rubs, and that is the moment I enjoy the most.

I can sit nicely when waiting for Foster Mom to give me treats. I do not jump. I do not bark. I do not destroy toys or other items. I do not counter-surf. I am not very interested in toys, either.

I love watching TV. I will sit in front of the TV, watching the shows on dogs, big cats, and many more. I also enjoy lying on the deck, watching all the wildlife - birds, ducks, deer, raccoons, fox. I have great eyesight!

I do get excited to go for a walk when Foster Mom gets the leash out. We have met all kinds of people on our walks, including kids; I am great with older children.

With exercise, I have lost 5 lbs and am now 62 lbs! I feel much better at a lighter weight, and Dr. K said I am at my perfect weight, so my next focus is to build muscle to be as fit as as my foster brother, Douglas!

I gained the trust to free-roam while Foster Mom is gone for a few hours. I had no incident for the past month; whew, potty training was an easy process for me. Foster Mom tells me she is so lucky to have me. I do agree!

I am still a little nervous with car rides. Foster Mom and I have been working on a solution, and we continue to make baby steps. Now I will step into the back seat if she sits there with me. We will keep working on it and let you know about my progress next time.

Yes, I am ready for my forever home; are you ready for me? Are you the one who will take me home and love me forever? You will find yourself as lucky as my foster mom, I promise!

Miss Darcy has been doing really great in her foster home. She got her spay surgery done on 11th and has recovered well since. Her ear infections have improved, too, and Foster Mom has been cleaning her ears daily.

We had two groups of visitors in the past two weeks, and she won the heart of everyone visiting. She gets along with teens as well, so a family with kids older than ten years should not have any problems adopting Darcy.

She is starting to enjoy going out for a walk; she always sits first in line when Foster Mom gets the leash out. Her tail will wag non-stop, and her eyes will set on you, begging for your attention.

Her leash manners have improved dramatically. She still pulls on the leash at times, but not as hard as before. While she is very excited at the beginning of the walk, she will calm down as soon as we hit the road.

She does not have a strong prey drive and will ignore other dogs, birds, or bunnies if Foster Mom tells her no. We walk 20 minutes twice a day and have a 10-minute free run in a baseball field. She absolutely loves it!

Darcy has also recently mastered the art of eating her food outside of her crate. Her appetite has been picking up, too. She loves treats, begging for her favorite items: freeze-dried chicken breast and bacon-flavored soft chews - yum yum.

Good nutrition plus regular exercise have helped Darcy successfully lose 3.5 pounds in 4 weeks. Yay!

Darcy loves the snow; she was terrified at the beginning, but quickly fell in love with the fluffy stuff. A girl from the South enjoys the beauty of the North.

Darcy is best buds with the resident dog, Douglas. They are like two peas in a pod. Douglas is helping to show Darcy the life of being a loved member of a family.

Darcy is completely housebroken. There was zero incident in the past four weeks - what a smart girl!

Darcy is the sweetest Golden; she loves everyone she meets and enjoys being petted. She is just so sweet and gentle, she will melt your heart once you meet her. If you’re looking for an affectionate young dog that loves to be with you and play with everyone, this is the girl!

Precious Darcy was welcomed into our home a little over a week ago. She was nervous and reserved, and she needed a bath!

She spent two days hiding in her crate. On the third morning, she slowly came out of her shell and explored the house very slowly and cautiously.

Darcy has bonded quickly with Douglas, my resident Golden, and really looks to him for cues. She will need another dog in her forever home to make her feel comfortable and safe.

Darcy is a quiet dog and she is still learning what it means to be an inside dog and a loved member of a family. When inside, she still uses her crate with the door open as her safe space. Foster Mom can tell she is becoming more relaxed in her crate as she rolls on her back instead of being curled up in a ball.

She is housetrained, with only one accident on day one. What a smart girl!

When we are at home, she does have free roam of the house and we do encourage her to hang out with us. She slowly approaches us and loves to be petted.

Darcy had her first leash walk with Douglas today. She was a little confused at the beginning, but quickly learned from Douglas. Walking will become our routine exercise since Darcy does need to lose a few pounds.

This beautiful pup is staying with one cat and one dog. She has no interest in the cat at all and gets along with Douglas, following him in the house.

Darcy is a beautiful, healthy girl. Her vet visit was quite easy, and she is scheduled for her spay on April 8th. We will keep you updated with the progress in the next couple of weeks.
