I could not wait to get this “Black Beauty” on the web for you all to see! Her name is Destiny, she is a spayed 7 year old Golden Retriever/ Mix. You can see she has the look of a Golden and has the hair of a Golden (long , thick and curly) but is black. Has the big brown eyes. She is a large girl, she weighs in at about #88 pounds and really should be about # 70-75, so we are working on that. She reminds me of bear, so we call her “Care Bear”. She for sure is not used to exercise, because she tires easily, but is loving the fetch game, so any movement she gets now will be better than what she was getting. She had a lot of matts that needed to be cut off, so looking better now.She has been in boarding for a few weeks, so I am sure she is glad to be out and about. She was surrendered by her owner to a shelter along with her sister, who they say never got along with each other, but that it was the sister who was causing the problems! She is nothing but a love bug, wants to be by you and go where you go. She has no food aggression to humans (don’t know about dogs), and loves children. She lived with children and cats. She does really well in the car. Sleeps great next to the bed at night and tells you when she needs to go outside to go potty!!Because of her size, she has a lot of strength, so walking on the leash is something she does not do very well at this point, she pulls hard, but with some work she can learn that also. She is being kept in the crate for now while we are gone, until we can test that further. She LOVES to play with toys, this is the first dog in a long time that I have had that actually wants to play and knows how! So stayed tuned for more info on this girl as the days go by.....

Just had to share some new pictures of Miss Care Bear!! She is so funny!! As you can see in the picture she loves to play with the tether ball!

I also got her a new purple monkey and you can see her carry this around, but the picture of it with it on her back is her throwing it in the air and catching it. Having so much fun just watching her.

But the real kicker is the swimming pool!! Yes I know, a little early for the swimming pool. I put it out with this nice weather and cleaned it, did not put water in it but the rain we had helped fill it some what. I could not believe it when I saw her in there, she was just loving it, so I think she will be a good water dog!!

She is just a fabulous dog, so easy, so gentle, so mellow! If that sounds like what you are looking for, she could be yours!!

Some new pictures of Destiny (Care Bear) enjoying the great outdoors! She loves to wonder around the yard (no tie out or fence needed).  She also likes to play tether ball as you can see, got a good one of her in action! Also one with Foster Dad telling her to go get it but she is more interested in playing with him...So as you can see, she is a normal dog and still does normal dog things.. Don’t miss out on this girl, she is as happy as they come and will make some family very happy as long as she can be with you and go where you go! She likes to lay on the couch beside you or sometimes even in your lap!
Enjoy the pictures of this beautiful girl...

Well miss care bear sure is a sweetheart, she is so gentle with everything. She takes treats very gently. I find I have a hard time getting good pictures of her as she is so dark sometimes all you see is a black blob, like the one of her laying on the couch, she blends right in with the brown couch. Hopefully some of these show her off! Speaking of showing her off, I have run into a few people now that have asked me if she is mixed with Newfoundland!! I have no idea really, but I have been looking at them on the web and she sure looks a lot like them, and that could explain her size. The little hairs that stand up on the top of her head, that is newfie also. No wonder she is so gorgeous!! But as you can see she has the Golden look and very much the Golden personality, nudge, paw and all....

She loves to go for car rides... she goes with me to drop and pick up my daughter from school, does not want to get out when we get home as if to say let's go again!!

She loves to plow her nose in the snow and run around like that, it is so funny... I tried to get a picture but they are so blurry! I love how she lays on the floor also, I did get a picture of that, most dogs have their paws under them, she has hers sprawled out when she lays on her tummy...

Destiny is a very easy dog, not at all hyper, does well with free roam now and just wants to hang out with her people... More to come!

Thought we better give you an update on Care Bear (Destiny) after our day in Duluth at the Petco event! Our first one, so it was nice to go and finally meet and greet everyone! Although Miss Care Bear did ok at first, after awhile she got a little snarky with some of the dogs. Her history was with her sister as they did not get along, I was told it was more likely from the sister, so I don’t know if that is the case and she just thought certain dogs reminded her of her sister or if the day was just getting long. Other than that she did well and took in all kinds of love and scratches from the people, she was a hit for sure!!She had a very interested person visit with her today, so we shall see where that leads.  Another thing we did find out is that she does not require a fence, she does not have the greatest recall but she stays close by. The pictures show her helping FD  with the wood! She also loves the new snow we got and shows her playing in it and helping FD shovel a path for her to walk. Other than that she continues to be a very easy dog (other than pulling on the leash) and does not require much at all, just love, scratches and more scratches and she's good!!.

Quick update on Destiny. We went to the vet yesterday and she was such a good girl, everyone loved her and she loved everyone! She has lost 3 pounds since being here so that was good, just getting out and moving has really been helping her. She has infected ears which I was not surprised because she had started to really shake her head and scratch at them so I suspected this. But she is on meds now and will be all better in a couple days.  The picture below shows her big brown eyes and how they just look at you with sadness when she wants something! LOL!

The other picture shows her and her favorite squeaky toy, football, very noisy but she loves it!! If you would like to meet Destiny, she will be in Duluth at petco on March 3rd from 12-2 for the meet and greet!

Care Bear (Destiny) is doing very well. She is 100% potty trained, sleeps all night. Loves hanging out with her people. She is crate trained but we are working on free roam, the first day she got into my recycling, did not do anything with it just got into it, so I put that all in the laundry room so she cannot get at it and yesterday we left her for 2 hours with her toys and nyla bone to chew on and was just laying down sleeping when we got back and had got into nothing! So we will keep working on free roam, I think its just that she lived with her sister before and is not used to being alone, so once she knows we are coming back sooner or later she will be fine. She still follows me everywhere I go, she can be in a deep sleep and if I get up and move she moves with me, I think that will also get better as she grows to trust we are not leaving for good. She is a Black Beauty, has the golden nudge and the golden paw down for sure, pure golden, just has the black color.
As you can see in the picture she is good with kids (lived with kids) this is my 8 month old great niece and she is giving her kisses!!
We go to the vet next week and will let you know how that goes..... Stay tuned for more on this pretty gal!!
