Dos 05-400

Profile

11/19/05: Dos is 6 months old and appears to be a purebred Golden Retriever. Dos was a stray so we don't have a lot of history on him. He is neutered and the shelter gave him his distemper and rabies vaccinations. Dos has only 2 toes on his left back leg so he does have a little limp off and on. However, it doesn't seem to hinder him at all when he plays with Gabby (the resident dog). He runs and jumps and moves around pretty darn good.

Dos has a great personality. He is such a little lover. He doesn't seem to be afraid of anything. He loves to explore and will investigate without much hesitation. Dos slept in his crate very well last night. He had a long day yesterday coming up from Iowa. Dos will need help with housetraining. I think Dos will make someone a very nice companion.

I will send in better pictures and some more information as soon as we get to know Dos a little better. He is such a cutie!

Dos had his vet appointment today and he checked out A-OK. He is now up-to-date on his vaccinations and his fecal was negative. The vet thought his left back foot was injured at some point but wasn't sure how. His foot doesn't seem to hinder him at all for his activity level. He runs and plays pretty hard every day. We went on a long walk the other day and he did limp every once in a while when he was tired. The vet did say he should be kept at his ideal weight so that his foot didn't have to bear an excess amount of weight as he gets older, but hey, that goes for me too.

We are doing great on his housetraining so far. We do let him out pretty often. When you take him outside and say "Go potty" he runs out in the grass and goes to the bathroom. It won't take much to get him fully housetrained as long as he has consistent help with it.

I can't tell you enough what a great personality Dos has. Even though he has puppy energy, he still behaves very well for a 6 month old puppy. As he gets older he will be a pretty mellow Golden. Dos is still getting used to the cats. He just wants to play, but the cats don't appreciate it much. He loves everyone. He couldn't wait to meet and see all the people at the vet this morning. He is just a happy-go-lucky little guy.

Dos is all tired out from playing at the park.
