Duchess (Ducky) has been with us for 1 1/2 weeks. She immediately warmed up to Foster Mom and Dad and gets along with all dogs she has met, including fellow foster Chief 18-126.
We have not tested her on all commands, but she responds to "come" as Duchess or Ducky, and walks very well on a leash. She loves, loves, loves any kind of attention she is given, whether it is pets, hugs, or time playing with tennis balls.
Her kennel is in our bedroom and she likes to sleep there at night, although we leave the door open. She has free roam when we are gone. She has had no accidents and has no separation or storm anxiety. She loves her kibbles, but luckily is too short to counter surf. Her ideal weight is 50 lbs, so the poor girl is on a diet right now.
Ducky has some medical issues that are in various stages of resolution.
- Her ear infections have been resolved.
- She had two small growths (sebaceous adenomas) on her paws removed.
- She had a large pendulous mass, which was benign, removed from her stomach.
- Ducky has dermatitis and has started taking Apoquel. This is the only long term medicine she currently takes, which costs approximately $75 per month.
- Ducky’s remaining medical issue is dental. She is scheduled for a cleaning and possible removal of a couple back molars this week. Once healed, she will be available for adoption.
