Duggan arrived on Saturday afternoon. He had been my foster dog in 2004. He was with a family whose circumstances have changed, so he came back to Ragom. He seemed to recognize me....or maybe he likes all people (I actually think that's it), and he met my two dogs with zero issues. The two dogs that lived here in 2004 have both died so he had to make new friends. He made friends with both of my guys before the transporter even left. He loves to wrestle and they both are willing to oblige him. He ignored the cat, maybe he remembered her snarly little self, or maybe he just ignores cats. He ignores the rabbit, and I know she wasn't here in 2004.
Duggan will be nine years old in March. He is a dark red golden. He has had a bath...which he loved, had his feet trimmed...which he tolerated, and had his ears cleaned out...which he reluctantly allowed. He has enjoyed his frequent after-bath brushings. Now, we are mostly done grooming and he looks gorgeous! I left him home alone for about four hours today and came home to zero evidence of anything out of place. I think he just laid on his bed in one of the bedrooms while we were all gone.
Duggan settled in as if he never left and it took him about five minutes.
I'll update more after our vet appointment, but at this point, I expect Duggan will be adopted quickly, despite his age. He's a very agile, energetic almost nine-year-old and does not seem to show his age at all...if he didn't have white rings around his eyes, you'd never guess he was as old as he is. He seems to have zero issues and so far has been your stereotypical, lay by the fire as seen on TV Golden Retriever. Email your placement adviser if you want to meet Duggan. More later.
