Duke’s foster dad apologizes for not updating his page more often but we have both been very busy.  We continue to attend events at PetCo and PetSmart and make new friends along the way.  The comment has been made that Duke is too attached to his foster dad; he is definitely a loyal dog that loves lots of attention!  After having lived for about a year in a boarding kennel Duke really likes having his own person.  I believe he can bond with anyone given the chance, but I am what he has available. He is getting closer and closer to Pepper all the time; they play very well together and are getting lots of exercise!  I think initially Duke looked at Pepper as competition for my attention, but there is plenty of that to go around and I am not nearly as fast a runner or as good a wrestler as Pepper.  Duke has shown to be pretty smart and a little bit stubborn but he will eventually do what I ask him to do.  Duke might have had some training in the past; he knows many of the basic commands. The good news is that Duke has a new sponsor!  Perhaps he will soon find his forever home.

Duke has settled in really well in short period of time. He does have an interesting recent history. Prior to coming in to RAGOM he had spent a year or so living in a boarding kennel. He was given excellent care and was well liked when he was there but that is just not the same as being a house dog. It would appear that he was abandoned in boarding by his previous owner through no fault of his own. When he came in to foster care he had some anxiety and acted like he had to prove to other dogs that he is a tough guy. He was somewhat loud and not the most obedient and didn’t seem to know how to act. What a difference five days makes! He is now more relaxed and cooperative.

Duke is healthy, is fully up to date, is micro-chipped and weighs in at 65 pounds which seems perfect. He attended a RAGOM Petco event, his behavior was excellent and he was very charming. At home he continues to settle in, is bonding with his foster dad and his fur pal Pepper.

Here are a few more pictures. As you can see Duke is great looking, spunky five year old boy.
