Dylan is doing great. Having a fun summer and just really enjoying life. His coat is really growing in and he's starting to look really pretty now. He was always really pretty, but he looks so much healthier now too. And much furrier. He's a very sweet and loving guy. He really likes hanging around with my girls(fur butts), He still chases the birds shadows on the ground ... it's really funny to see and fun to watch. He likes to play catch, but doesn't quite get the thing about giving the ball back yet....working on it. The pictures of him are on the deck just taking it easy and waking up from a nap, he does that really well, and of course, on the bed, where he likes to sleep too. He minds very well most all of the time and is eager to learn new things. He really likes to be around my family and likes children a lot too. Very gentle with them. He likes to bark with my dogs at the usual things, other dogs, the mailman, other people etc, but if you tell him to stop he does so and comes in the house, if you want him too. Minds better than my girls do...told him to teach them. Good with our cats too.Just a great boy~ Thanks again to his sponsors Lisa M., Leon and Aubbie. He's doing just great!

Dylan is doing great now, and having a great summer too. The allergies have been somewhat difficult, but the benedryl works pretty good, and the antibiotic took care of his hot spots, and his thyroid is working great on his new pills. He has great energy and loves kids and the little swimming pool too. Plays with my fur butts and just chills on the deck sometimes. He really likes to be with his human a lot. Lots more than my fur butts do anyway. He lays by my chair in the office while I work and sleeps and keeps me company, and when I go to an interview or meeting he goes in his really big kennel, with his blankets and a fan blowing lightly on him and he's great....oh, he has a treat then too. He really is just the best dog...everyone loves him that meets him. I think Dylan will do better in a forever home where someone is home part of the day...he's great company and likes other animals too, especially dogs that aren't aggressive. He's very loving and a little needy, but he comes from a puppy mill and I think he's just afraid sometimes that the good stuff will go away. He stays pretty close to his human unless there are kids or something fun is going on. Then he's ready to have fun too. Still loves to cuddle on the couch and sleep in bed...he's just great to have around. Thanks again to his sponsers, Lisa M, Leon and Aubbie...we appreciate all your help.

Sorry its been a few weeks since the last update. Just been very busy with many things. Dylan is doing much better now. The Vet has his meds in the correct dosage and his thyroid is working perfect now. He will have to be on the thyroid pills for the rest of his happy life, but he's doing great. Still and always will have allergies, but that can easily be dealt with for him too. The Vet has him on Benedryl, 3 in the morning and 3 at night until allergy season is over (the 1st frost). After that...they want to see how he does and see what he needs after allergy season, if anything. He's on meds for a hot spot on his tail, but it's getting much better and caused by allergies. He's very healthy and so sweet and loving. He has been just great at the vet, and they are all very fond of him. The Doctor said that he looks so very much better than he did when he came in and that he has a wonderful disposition. He's pretty special. He gets along with kids, people and doing just great with the other animals here. The cats even like him. My little granddaughter loves to feed him her watermelon or cheezit's or whatever when shes in her highchair or just running around. He loves that...he is very loyal and loving. And he loves to play too...chase the ball or whatever toy...he's really fun and just a sweetie. Likes to sleep with you a lot, and cuddle on the couch. Personally, I think he's close to perfect. My fur butts really like him too. Thanks again to Lisa M, Leon and Aubbie, Dylan's sponsors. Your help is so appreciated...it really is.

Dylan is doing much better now and his hair (undercoat) is growing back really quickly. He's looking good and feeling better. He's on thyroid meds now and had what was to be his last test, but his count is still a bit too high. Normal count is 3 to 5 and his is 5.5 right now. The vet says it's just a matter of adjusting his meds a bit and having him tested again after he starts them in about 3 weeks. He will have to be on the pills for the rest of his life, but the pills are really little and very easy to give to him in half a piece of bread, and the cost is minimal too...according to the vet. Other than that, he's doing just great. Dylan will need a fenced in yard, a chain just won't work for him or a tether. He needs to run, and he's like velcro too. He loves to be at my side most of the time. He's on the couch with me and sleeps on the bed, very nicely and loves to be near you. He does the same when my daughter stays here with my little 17 month old granddaughter. She is with her and the baby all the time and sleeps on the bed with her too. He's great with my cats, but I have very dog friendly cats, and he's great with my fur butts too. All in all he's just a wonderful dog. As far as his food aggression goes, it's pretty minimal now, and I'm sure will be fine in time. When I feed him in the morning with the other 2, I always pet him when I put his food down on the floor and he's doing very well. Once in a while he will give a little growl when the cats walk by him closely when he's eating, but never anymore than that. And if you say no, he moves away from the food dish for a moment. Not far from it, but he's trying to get it. Dylan will be much better if he is in a forever home where someone can be home during the day and he really likes other animals too. He will be good in the kennel for awhile when I'm gone, and I have lots of soft things for him to lay on, and he doesn't chew any of them either. I never have left her alone for more than 4-5 hours. He does well with that, but really needs out after that. He loves rawhide chews, greenies and of course any type of treat and takes thing very nicely. He's smart, and a lot of fun for all of us. My family and friends all think he's just a wonderful Boy~! It always amazes me what love and compassion does for these dogs. This is very rewarding stuff...and Dylan is a Super Guy.

Good news...Dylan is getting better. His ears are clearing up and has to be on the drops for another week, and his sore is healing very well, we have been able to cut down on the benedryl, and the thyroid pills appear to be working. He has a lot more energy, and just looks better too. The vet says he's on the recovery road, but still has to have his blood checked again in 3 weeks, to make sure the thyroid medicine is working like it should, and we're still watching for allergies too. He looks so little now without his undercoat, he has sooooooo much fur when I got him. Don't think I've seen many Goldens with more fur than he had...he kinda has that puppy look now. He has been just a great guy during all of this, and the people at VCA animal hosp really like him a lot. The vet wants him to have one more medicated bath in a couple of weeks, and will check his fur growth too. It's just great to see him running and playing with my 2 fur butts again...he just feels so much better now, which makes me feel great, and worry less...he's a great dog and a handsome one too. Thanks again to his sponsors..Lisa M., Leon and Aubbie....

Hi Everyone! Well, Dylan is doing better now...he has lost almost all of his undercoat, but he had sooooo much fur, and it has been so hot, he is now One Cool Dude. His staph infection is gone and he is on the road to recovery. He is taking Benedryl now to help with some left over itching and maybe allergies. We'll be watching him for the next 2 weeks and if he just keeps getting better, we'll know it's allergies and not his thyroid. That's the way it looks right now, but the vet wants to be sure, and so do I. He's doing really great in every other way. He's very healthy in every other respect and has a really good disposition. He really minds very well, and is enjoying the good life a lot. Thanks again to his great sponsors, Lisa M, Leon and Aubbie. It's so great what you're doing. Dylan is such a great friend!

Dylan is a wonderful guy and just as sweet as he can be. He still has a little bit of food aggression, but he's doing much better. He has a great attitude, is great aroung kids, even little ones, and cats are kool with him too. He's really a good boy. We especially want to thank out sponcers, Lisa M., Leon and Aubbie again as Dylan has been a bit under the weather for about a week now. He had a sore on his front left leg, looked like a hot spot, and at the same time, his hair was coming out in big tufts. Thought he was having the Big Shed, but this was too much. Well, the great vets at VCA, found out right away, that he either has environmental allergies, or a thyroid problem. He's on 4 big capsules a day for 2 weeks now and we have some good cream for his sore too...he actually has a staph infection, caused by either the allergies or his thyroid. They have to clear up the staph infection before they can check his thyroid. He seems to feel good and eats well, and we are taking very good care of him...he gets lots of kisses and hugs. So will keep you updated as to what's next, but he's just a wonderful guy...we all love him here. Sent some new pictures....isn't he handsome...thanks again to his sponsors...

Dylan is doing just great. As you can see, my younger dog Shelby just plays and plays and plays with him and he has such a great attitude...he's gentle and just lays down when he's had enough. He's good with my cats too...and everyone else too. He's very loving and loves to be loved. Likes walks and doesn't need a gentle leader at all so far. I think he would stay with me without a leash, but wouldn't even think of trying it. He's very loyal and loves to be with me when I'm working(at home). Just sleeps....such a good boy. A couch potato too...loves to sleep in bed with me, but would sleep on the floor if I wanted him too. He's just a love and a lovely dog. Both of mine have grown very fond of him just like the rest of my family. He is very smart and minds very well. Loves other dogs, and doesn't show agression unless they come at him first. So far it has only happened with the BIG lab, Bear in the next yard. And only fence barking and that kind of regular stuff. Nothing harmful....he's really a great guy and will make one of you very happy ... we would love to keep him ourselves cuz he's so sweet. Thanks to Lisa M., Leon and Aubbie for sponsoring Dylan once again. You guys are just great and we are so grateful for your support....will find him a good forever home...

Dylan is doing just great...what a wonderful dog he is. He's great with my dogs and they love having him around. He's also been very good with my cats and kids and babies too. He's so smart...he knows: sit, down, stay, shake, No, is house trained completely, and has a great disposition. He's a big guy and very handsome and healthy too. The ladies at the vet just love him too. We are sure enjoying having him around. He's a sweetie and a couch potato too. Both Dylan and I want to thank his sponsers again, Lisa M., Leon and Aubbie, for making his life so much better. All your help is so much appreciated, and Dylan sends you a big hug and kiss... Dylan loves to play with my youngest dog, Shelby, she's almost 2yrs old...she wears him out, but he's so good to her and so gentle too. He also loves to spend time with my older golden, Mariah, she's 8 and just lays around the back yard in the sun and rolls in the grass for a long time. He's really funny because he chases the shadows of the birds as the fly over the back yard and the trees when they blow in the breeze. It's really cute to watch. He' steals your heart right away....very lovable and very loyal too. This boy will be such a welcome addition to a forever family....he's such a keeper...will have more pictures next week....

Dylan is doing well and learning how to live the good life. Still needs to trust people a bit more, but he's doing really well. He loves to play with my dogs and is doing well with the cats too. He still has one booster to go in 3 weeks, and had him groomed and cleaned up and he looks so handsome. He's very friendly, and seems to get along pretty well with most dogs as long as he's on his side of the fence. He's not the agressor but doesn't back down as much as I would like. He's getting there though, and he's very loving and quite a couch potato. He loves rawhide but not greenies...looks at me like I'm nuts when I offer him one. Eats very well and we are very fond of him here. He's learning to be a good boy and the trust is coming too. Rides in the car very well too. Don't know about kids yet, but he seems to like everyone. Will find out how he is with children soon, but I don't think there will be any problems. He's a good boy...more to come soon.

Dylan is doing just great. His neuter went well and he has only a week to go before we can give him a bath. He smells a lot better though just being away from his old surroundings. He has a wonderful disposition...he's loving and kind and funny and playful and sweet. He knows how to sit and lay down. Goes in his big kennel with no problem (always gets a little treat when he does). I give him kisses and play on the floor with him. He gets along with my 2 dogs really well (my girls really like him). He's good with the cats too, but have had to tell him no a couple of times when he thought he would chase them. I think it was all in fun, but the cats didn't. His heartworm test was negative and the vet has given him a clean bill of health. He also knows what "no" means...he's really a wonderful guy and very handsome, too. Can't wait to see him after a bath. More to come soon...new pictures, too!
