Profile

Elizabeth was rescued at an auction of breeding dogs. While initially shy, she has flourished with guidance from the resident dogs in her foster home. A medium to large, confident dog in her forever home is required. Being a typical puppy, Elizabeth will benefit greatly from obedience training and socialization. She can live with children as well as cats. A physical fence is optional as long as a plan is in place to keep her safe.

Elizabeth has been adopted and is a perfect addition to the Z family's household. She is loved beyond comprehension.

Elizabeth has been spayed and is recovering very well. She will be ready to run and play soon.

She has experienced many new things, including our home and yard, as well as our lake cabin. At first, we had to be very patient, coaxing her to leave a safe place or to go to the "scary" backyard when there are garbage trucks or other utility vehicles in the neighborhood. She has watched our two resident Goldens for cues and determined we are trustworthy, so she can follow them safely.

She loves balls, chew toys, and playing vigorously with her two-year-old foster sister. She is so smart and trainable. She is very thin, but her veterinarian has confirmed she is healthy and receiving an appropriate amount of kibble (just over 4 cups a day), and that her metabolism may slow now that she is spayed.

Elizabeth is non-destructive. She has many toys to choose from, but loves to steal a sock, a face cloth, or something else that has our scent. She plays with the item, but does not rip or destroy.

It's been almost five weeks since Elizabeth entered our lives. Next week, she will be five months old. It's hard to believe the small, quiet puppy who I extracted from the back of an SUV that Sunday is the same lively, boisterous tot who has rocked our world.

Elizabeth has blossomed, very quickly learning she has a name, not just a number (#80); she knows the "sit" and "down" commands; she respects elder dogs; she plays joyfully with her two-year-old sister; she has discovered how much fun a toy box holds; she potties outside; she stays until prompted. She is a confident little girl who we love so much.
