This beauty is Ellie. She came to foster care from a wonderful home in need of surgery on her right hip. Her vet said her hip is 80% diminished and needs surgery.

Ellie is a very sweet girl, not shy at all. She loves to play with her toys. She especially loves to play tug - a - war. She gets along well with our resident dogs and always tries to get them to play with her. She has a lot of energy. She plays for a while, then rests when her hip bothers her. Ellie loves car rides. Her surgery will be this week, the 4th or 5th of February. We are looking forward to getting her hip taken care of so she will be able to enjoy her life without all the discomfort she must have. She is so full of life. After some recovery time I'm sure she'll get her chance to really enjoy dog games like she should.

Ellie also does well with kids (she loves them) and small animals. She really likes to see what the cats are up to. She also likes the parrot. I don't think she knows quite what to think of him.

We will be sure to let everyone know how Ellie is doing in the following weeks with her surgery and recovery.

Updates

Ellie has been doing great!  Her stitches have been removed and she is convinced that she should play all day long.  We of course try to keep her as quiet as possible to help the recovery, but she seems to have other ideas.

She has made herself right at home here and is such a treat to have.  She loves her kennel and her doggie bed.  I think she missed her kennel a lot the first couple weeks after her surgery because she couldn’t fit thru the door with the cone on her head.  Her kennel is her favorite place to go when she needs a break.

On Saturday Ellie goes back to the vet to have x-rays done to see how well her hip is healing and to see how her other hip looks.  We will keep everyone posted on Ellie’s x-ray results and her recovery.

Ellie also wanted to send out a huge thank you to the anonymous angel that sponsored her.  Ellie sends hugs, kisses, and tail wags.  Thank you so much!
