Ellie 11-118

Profile

I am very proud to introduce 6 yr old Ellie to all of you RAGOM fans!  Miss Ellie is an absolutely beautiful, medium-colored, 6 yr old spayed PB golden retriever.  Her owner made the difficult decision to turn her over to RAGOM as she wasn’t able to provide the care and attention that she felt Ellie deserved. We thank her for entrusting Ellie’s care to us, and also appreciate the wonderful professional grooming Ellie received right before pick up! She’s a knock-out!

Ellie has now been to the vet, and is up to date on all of her shots, and will be started on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. She is also receiving medication for an ear infection in both ears. Her gait appears to be a bit off, so x-rays were taken, and I am currently awaiting further treatment recommendations.  I will update as soon as I know more!

We’ve only had Ellie a few days, so are still getting to know this wonderful girl!  She is, however, one of the happiest golden retrievers that I have ever had the pleasure to meet!  Her tail is always wagging, she appears to have a smile on her face most of the time, and she literally prances when you call her name!  She lived primarily outside in the past, and is adapting well to the inside life. She’s had no accidents in the house, is completely comfortable with stairs and wood floors, and has already learned how to get comfortable on couches, chairs, and the various dogs beds spread throughout the house. We are crating her at night for the time being, and though she isn’t wild about going into her crate, she doesn’t make a peep once in there.  In terms of walking, she is tolerating a gentle lead very well, but actually walks on a normal flat leash with only minor pulling.  She already gets very excited and wiggles from top to bottom when she sees her leash come out for her daily walks!

Ellie is a gentle soul, and absolutely loves being around people and receiving attention. She adores my 16 year old son and his friends, and has done great with younger kids that we have run into on our walks.  She is a bit shy when meeting new dogs, but has shown absolutely no signs of aggression. She is doing well with the two resident goldens, and it’s been fun to watch her copy almost everything they do!

Ellie will be at RAGOM’s West St. Paul event this Saturday 4/23 from 11-1, so please come out to meet this incredibly special girl!  We have already fallen completely in love with her, and know you will too

From Ellie's forever family...

We adopted Ellie 3 months ago. She is almost 7 and spent her previous years in an outside kennel. After a few weeks settling in, she has become the most wonderful dog. Although 75 pounds, she is a major cuddler. She bounces around on her toes (big feet!) and is strong and lively. Thanks to Kris who provided her foster home experience, and who taught her about living indoors.

Ellie would just like to thank all of the wonderful families that came out to the West St. Paul Petco on 4/23 to meet her and the other dogs in attendance: Bud (who was 12 – it was his birthday!), Pete/Bear, and the two adorable little puppies, Acer and Aero! She was a bit timid at first, but did really well, and definitely enjoyed all the treats and pets she received! FM was also thrilled to have a visit from one of her previous fosters, beautiful Sadie!

Ellie has a wonderful, loving family that is currently very interested in her, so I will update once we know anything further. In the meantime, I thought you’d enjoy the picture of how she spent the rest of her afternoon after the exhausting time at Petco!
