Emory 05-234

Profile

8/17/05: Emory arrived here in Oxford, Iowa tonight. He has made himself right at home! He is a beautiful fellow and loves to play. He spent the evening chasing his Frisbee and Kong and then got lucky and found a tennis ball in the yard. When Emory arrived he was looking very much the "Golden in charge" with his head out the window. It is obvious that Emory has come from a very loving home, as he is just the sweetest guy. He was happy being close and even sat to be brushed for quite awhile. He is UTD on vaccinations and is in excellent health. AS you can see from the photos, Emory is a beautiful red boy. He is quite strong and not really happy on a leash. I think with some work, he will be more agreeable to the leash.

His former owner reported that Emory was quite the thief in their neighborhood. He would bring home unopened bags of dog treats and toys. Very clever, I thought!

From what I have seen tonight, I think Emory would be happiest where he has plenty of space to run. I think he will be great fun and will make a wonderful family member.

Emory went to the vet on Thursday and is in great shape. At 65 lbs, he is almost the perfect weight. He is heartworm negative and UTD on shots. Emory did very well in the car and seemed to enjoy the ride. He was a big hit at the vet. We have discovered that, as with many Goldens, Emory has allergies. He now on Benadryl and we are trying different foods. The scratching and face rubbing has already slowed down. Emory is so beautiful. He is a big red guy who loves everyone. He does very well off lead here and loves to chase balls and toys. Not an accident in the house and Em will bark at the door to get out.

Emory's forever home will be one where he can have a lot of attention. He would love someone to throw a ball or run with him. He will need a family who will continue to work on his "leash" behavior as he will pull and is quite strong. This is a great fellow who deserves a forever family.
