Enos 08-209

Profile

This guy is way too handsome to be called Enos, so while he is hanging at our home, we plan to call him Ernie!  Ernie is a 2 year old, male PB Golden Retriever and has the most beautiful multi colored red fur.  He just arrived at our home tonight, gets along great with all four kids (canine and human) and has been a perfect gentleman.

He was neutered on Monday, all his tests look good and he is now up to date on his vaccinations.

Ernie is a few pounds overweight, but hey we all have a bit of work to do after the winter to get into swimsuit shape!  He will get plenty of exercise with us and have lots of fun in the process.  We will send updates in a few days after we get to know this sweet boy.

Updates

Hi all,

I apologize it's taken me so long to update you on  Enos as we had a wedding in the family that we were in and lots of graduations, etc. Anyway, Enos, Ernie or what we call him now, Dusty is a great addition to our home. We also have an eight year old female golden named, Bailey. Bailey was not exactly thrilled when we brought Dusty home but now they get along well together and you can find them playing with eachother and running in the backyard.
The first night we brought Dusty home, he jumped into our pond, we came to the conclusion that not only is he fearless but he loves the water! Dusty is such an energetic and happy dog. He is such a lover, cuddler and likes to believe that he is a lap dog. (it's a good thing he's little) Haha. I won't lie, it is pretty difficult to look at the little guy and tell him no. We have heard him howl quite a few times, which is so cute. He likes to crawl a lot so every once and a while you will hear us call him, Scooter. He likes to crawl/scoot across the floor when he wants to come near us. I have proof that he lays down next to his food dish when he eats. One thing he des the second you leave him alone, is chew, chew, chew. He will drag clothing, blankets, papers, candles, DVD cases all around the house if left out alone that he has left his mark on by his teeth. Therefore, we must kennel him during the day when we are at work.
When we are home, he has free roam of the house, the backyard, etc. He loves to play with other dogs and loves to run!!! He even cheers people on runnning/walking on the sidewalk. He is a real motivator and sometimes he gets people to stop and pet him. He just lays down when we are eating and doesn't beg at all. He loves road tripsand going for walks. He likes to follow me everywhere when I am home...including the bathroom. Dusty has lost the wieght he needed to when we got him and he looks great! He is used to walking on a leash now and can make it a lot further then wehn we brought him home in May. Dusty is a fast learner and is not very photogenic. For such an attention hog, he sure does not like the camera very much.

He is almost done with obedience school and he has come a long way. He can sit, lay down, stay, wait, come, shake, give me "five", turns, heal, and will continue to learn more in the future. We just love Dusty and we even let both Bailey and him sleep in our beds, and on our furniture. Dusty is such a great dog and so loving, and SO cute!!!! We were glad to be able to adopt a RAGOM dog and even more excited knowing we have a great dog for the perfect addition to our home.
Thank you, RAGOM!
I wil continue to update you on his progress in the future. Until next time, Tails up!

We had the pleasure of watching Enos (also known as Ernie) for the long holiday weekend while his foster family was out of town. What a sweetheart this guy is! We have fallen in love with him and want to keep him!!!  He has the most adorable, happy golden face and personality! The family that gets this guy is going to be really lucky!!

I'll keep my update short... but mention that Ernie loved to play with our 6 year old golden Gracie while he was here!!! He's so cute, he hasn't figured out that dog beds are real comfy yet apparently, cause he lays right next to it instead of on it. He LOVES people soooo much and his habit of nudging your hand a little bit to tell you he wants something is absolutely adorable. He is very very gentle about it, don't get the wrong impression.

Here are a few pictures. I brought him over to my grandparents house and he loved them (as he loves everyone!). He found a good spot to nap (nice and cool!) and got lots of pets from both my grandma and grandpa.  He seems like he is smiling all the time and he's so attentive to the people around him... I caught one of his smiles on the camera :-)  And, lastly, one of him napping on the deck.

We'll miss you Ernie!

Hi! Ernie here~

I have had a quite a week.  I’m feeling great…much better now that I have recovered from my surgery.  I went to the groomer today for the spa treatment, trim and nails, and keep hearing how handsome I look!  There are two dogs that live at my foster family and we have a blast together.  They run like crazy in the fenced yard and I am getting pretty good at keeping up with them!  The yard is full of toys, and I now know how to play tug with the rope toys, and when they throw the ball, I pick it up and bring it back to the pile – I like to clean up after myself!

I am loving life and sooo happy all the time.  The young kids keep me busy, but I have lots of energy and am ready to be slim and trim and ready for summer.  Now that I have been groomed and happy as can be, I am ready to meet my forever family!

Let me tell you about me and what I am looking for in a forever family. I am a very smart, social and affectionate dog and love to be with people. I’m a great listener and am learning how to sit and come. I get along great with kids, and all dogs I have met so far – male and female. I’m learning about the joy of toys and just starting to walk on a leash… still need to figure out how to walk without pulling on the leash. I’m potty trained and have not had a single accident.  I’m patient and gentle with treats and sharing.  I need a family that will give me exercise so I get tighten up my abs!  The vet said I weigh 65 pounds and should weigh 50lbs.  If I get started now, I will be in tip top shape by the end of the summer.  Other than that, my health is great, I’m current on all shots and on heartworm and Frontline.  If you are interested in meeting me, please contact placementatragom [dot] org

Here are a few picture of me playing with my fur-sister.  I like to backup and sit on her – foster mom finds it very amusing.

Ernie has been with us for five days, is feeling more at home and we are thrilled to have him!  He was neutered on Monday and had a few complications.  After a trip to the vet we found out Ernie had a large hematoma as a result of the neuter.  We also learned he is closer to five years old, had two ear infections, and is 15 pounds overweight.  He is on antibiotics and light pain medication and doing so much better after just a few days.  We apply hot packs to the hematoma four times a day and Ernie loves it!  When he sees me head towards him with the washcloth, he rolls over belly up!

Ernie lived outside his entire life, and needed to learn a few things about living in a house.  He has already mastered stairs, and potty training (not a single accident) and we are working on how to walk on those slippery wood floors!

Socially Ernie is great with both of our dogs (male and female), our 3 and 6 year old kids and loves being with people.  Now that he is feeling better, Ernie is full of tail wags and body wiggles.  He needs to stay quiet for a few more days to allow his body to heal, which is driving him crazy…Ernie wants to be out and running with his furmates!  If his body continues to heal as planned, we will start the workout routine next weekend to begin burning off those extra pounds and get him in tip top shape!  He is also having a spa treatment Saturday to get his gorgeous red coat cleaned up.

Here are a few pictures of me helping with the yard work today…I even smile while I am working!
