We'd like you to meet one of our newest members to the RAGOM Family---Princess Fancy Pants!

Fancy 11-174 and her sister Sweety 11-175 were surrendered to RAGOM so they could live out their Golden years in a very Golden way! Formally an outside barn girl, this "retired" 9 yr old poster PB Golden Girl has landed safely in RAGOMLAND.  To say Fancy loves attention is an understatement!  Fancy met the transport team and our whole crew of dogs at home with nothing but licks and love!!!  Fancy LOVES LOVES LOVES any attention you will give her and will remind you she is in need with a Golden nose nudge to any part of your body!  She also loves to bury her head in-between your knees and will stand there as long as you are willing to let her.

On the way home from the farm, we were able to get the girls into the vet for a check-up.  Fancy weighed in at 76 lbs. (norm is probably 70lbs), she received her shots, did blood work (all in good range) and received meds for a double ear-infection. Both girls were unaltered and would need to be spayed.  During Fancy's exam, a few questionable lumps were found---one the size of a plum by her mammary gland and so an urgency was placed on her spay so the lumps could be removed and tested.  Fancy enjoyed a day and a half of fun at our home before heading to the vet for her surgery.

From the Barn to the Pool...ahh the "Good Life" begins!

Precious Princess Fancy

Classic Cuddle Bug!

I felt so bad having to bring her into the vet Monday morning--but luckily she was in the very best hands of Dr. C and the crew at the VCA!  After enduring 4 hours under the knife to remove the masses and be spayed, Fancy spent the night and we picked her up this morning.  Due to the size of one of the lumps that was removed, Fancy has a pretty large opening that will need extra attention and time to heal well.   Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers during her recovery and for "good news" from the lab regarding both lumps that were removed.  Fancy's chest x-ray was clean so we are hopeful that the lumps are non-cancerous.  If you are looking for a doggie to sponsor---Ms. Fancy Pants is more than a deserving candidate.  Her surgery was quite expensive due to the invasive nature and so any help you can give is so appreciated!

Fancy is resting comfortably now---will need bandages replaced every two days for the next 14 days and she is on limited exercise----I sure hope Dr. C explained that to her----she already jumped the baby gate, so the crate is her new home until she is healed.  As you can see....she's not too happy about it.  Giving Foster Mom the treatment for sure. :)

Not happy with the dumb cone!

We will keep you posted on our Princess Fancy Pants...and please send all your good vibes our way!

Well…GOOD things do come to those who wait!!!

First GOOD thing was that Fancy Pants received her very own Sponsor---THANK YOU again Susan!!!  You saw something special in Fancy and we can’t thank you enough for your gift of sponsorship!

And guess what GOOD thing happened next???   Miss Fancy Pants caught the eye and heart of the “T” family and found herself her “forever” family!!!  This little girl was very hard to let go of for the second time---but we know that she is the luckiest girl in RAGOMLAND to be adopted by the “T” family!  Fancy has two wonderful, loving parents and a sister (a former RAGOM girl herself) to hang out and do life with!  WE are thrilled about their love and commitment to our very special Miss Fancy Pants!!!

Fancy and her “new” Sis Gabby

Thank you to all Fancy’s fans that came out to see her at events and those of you who followed her journey here in RAGOMland!  She is a total GEM of a furry creature and we are so thankful for the time we were blessed to love her! We wish Fancy and her new family the very best life together…. full of lots of joy and laughter—and endless cuddles!

Oh my GOODNESS!!!!  I have my very own sponsor!!!  THANK YOU Susan!!!!!!!

When I first arrived in RAGOMland...I had these two lumps and even though I was an older girl, RAGOM gave me every chance to live the Golden life and gave the ok for me to have and additional surgery right away during my spay to get those lumps outta there!  Then FM had to drive me back to the vet to have my bandages changed every day for a week and then every other day for another week or so until I healed.  This was a quite an expensive feat, but luckily, they all saw something special in me and so they got me healthy in hopes a special person out there might sponsor me and help with my vet bills!  And here she is!!!!

THANK YOU SUSAN!!!  From the tip of my now fluffy tail to my very wet nose---I can't thank you enough for such a gift as being my sponsor!  I never had a sponsor before and I'm just sooooooooooooooo happy that you decided to pick me!

I hope I will get to meet you some day and give you lots of my special Fancy kisses!  You are an angel to care so much to help us all!  Lots of love--Fancy Pants!

And---to the very special Anonymous----Thank you so much for the Christmas token!  This has been the BEST Christmas I’ve ever had!!!!!   I love you all and I hope you know how much you all mean to me Smile

Love & Hugs---Fancy Pants!

Merry Christmas to ALL Fancy’s Fans & Friends! I just have to share this Cuddle Bug again with you all!

Fancy believes EVERYONE wants to cuddle with her.  Both Shadow and Miley were quite content on the big bed by themselves, but in Fancy’s world---beds & couches are meant to be shared.  Fancy is the ultimate snuggle partner and it just makes her day when you hug her, hold her face, and cuddle with her.  Sure beats a cold barn floor!

Babies and a comfy couch …PURE HEAVEN---but wait…something is missing….what makes this Heaven even better?

“C’mon FD---I’m waiting to cuddle”

Fans & friends that see Fancy out at the Events see a very quiet, shy girl-but get Fancy Pants outside with her family and out comes the Love Bug Runner!  Fancy is your sidekick and LOVES to be outside but only if you are with her!

Fancy wiggled her way onto Santa’s lap last weekend—(Yes, she did bud in line which raised Santa’s eyebrow a bit—but of course Fancy melted that brow the second she stared at him with those big brown eyes! (Works every time and she knows it!) We’re not totally sure what she asked Santa for but we have a good ideaWink …so paws crossed Santa can find such a special family here in RAGOMland for this precious girl!

We did overhear her ask something about gummy worms…ugh!  That girl…good thing she is soooo damn cute!  Long story….we’ll save that one for the next update ;)

Merry Christmas!

Hi Fancy Fans!!! Sorry it’s been so long without an update!  Fancy had a great Thanksgiving!!  We had a house FULL of Guests and Fancy was sooooo in her element…..lap to lap she went finding her perfect cuddle partner until she landed on “Grandpa Al” on the couch.  She was a total peach and didn’t go 1 minute without someone lovin’ her up!  Pure Heaven for Fancy Pants! We’ve been having so much fun in the snow!!!  Fancy is so calm inside, but give this girl a yard full of snow and the little girl thinks she’s a pupper again---making up for lost time I guess!

“C’mon FM!  One more time around…please!”

Like anyone can say, “No” to that face.  She reminds me of the Cat (Puss & Boots) from Shrek.  She looks at you with those big brown eyes and that’s all it takes! Of course---with all this snow…we play hard and we then we rest!

Our nightly positions on the loveseat---Cuddlegirls!

Seriously, who needs a blanket when you have a Fancy Pants to cuddle with?  And last weekend…we went out to the Coon Rapids event!  So many people came out to see all the RAGOM dogs and we had so much fun!  THANK YOU to all our visitors that came out to say "Hi!"

(Fancy is in the lower right hand corner with the red bow and her friend Miss Kathy)

Fancy eats up all the attention she gets at these events.  You never find her alone very long.  She will go from person to person making them aware that she is “free to pet”.  But once you start—you can’t stop (Fancy’s rule).  Don’t worry, she will remind you of the rule with her BIG paw should you need reminding.   Love may be free but of course all our doggies require vet care so Fancy volunteered to do her part for RAGOM.

The Working Girl---with those BIG brown eyes--Who can resist?

As I’ve mentioned before, Fancy was a Momma many times over and so having raised numerous puppers---this girl has no patience left in her for crazy, rambunctious puppy behavior and she will let it be known.  Fancy also has a very sensitive nature and so she believes everyone else should as well---in other words—she likes a nice “orderly” house with well-behaved 2-leggers and 4-leggers. For example, at the event on Saturday, poor lil’ Brooklyn (Ragom doggie) was so excited to be there and she kept coming over to see Fancy.  Fancy gave her a bold lip curl—a very clear warning that Brooklyn’s puppy excitement was not welcome—and noticing her lip curl, we pulled Brooklyn away.  But, that didn’t ldeter Brooklyn, being the young pupper she is, she headed right back for more—another lip curl from Fancy and a low growl this time—GREAT communication if you understand doggie communication—another warning to tell Brooklyn “I’m serious—back off.”  Unfortunately, Brooklyn hadn’t learned that communication lesson yet so did not back off and before we could pull her away this time, Fancy did, as any Doggie Momma would do with an unruly youngster, gave Brooklyn a very quick mouth correction right to Brooklyn’s nose.  Brooklyn squealed and Fancy---with everyone looking at her-- buried her head in my lap and just hid.  She laid there motionless for the longest time---sulking.  Even though Fancy’s clear warning and correction was totally justified in the doggie world, it was so like Fancy to then bury her head.  Brooklyn survived and all was well afterwards.  Fancy just does not like crazy energy in her face or her house.  Even when our dogs start really rough-housing inside, Fancy will jump off the couch and head right over to them like a Mother and the second they see her coming they knock it off.  It’s the funniest thing ever!!!  I bet she was a really strict Momma---but no doubt a very loving one!

So many people fall in love with Fancy Pants and believe me---we know why! After living in a barn for 9 years---she is just exploding with love to share and just oooozes that love out all over the place.  Those that have met her can attest! Fancy has not yet found her perfect match ---so many applicants have been interested but we know she needs another dog in her world and that seems to be the most common missing piece---so we happily wait….enjoying this special little girl all to ourselves until her special family comes calling….:)  They are going to be so incredibly lucky to find her---they have no idea how much love is waiting for them!

Ok---off for more snow adventures…catch ya later!  :-)

Fancy and Foster Sister Miley (former Mill Momma) LOVE the snow and both get a good case of the “zoomies” in this cold weather!

C'mon--Let's RACE!

We had such a wonderful time at the event this past weekend!  Thank you to all Fancy’s FANS---she adored being pet so much and didn’t want to leave---literally!  We walked out the store and Fancy turned around and walked right back in.  HA!!!  The Girl knows what she wants---that’s for sure!

Hope everyone has a very HAPPY Thanksgiving!  Fancy will have a whole houseful of guests to keep her pampered and loved!  Oh…what a difference from where she spent last Thanksgiving!

Thank you RAGOM!!!

The Secret to My Happiness…by Miss Fancy Pants

Consistent schedule, exercise and attention...in a low key home.

Praise and Rewards of Course :) aka "Treats!"

Precious Beauty Sleep with a Pal or Two

Outdoor Activities with Family & Friends

And most importantly...LOTS of Cuddle Time!

That’s it!  I’m pretty easy…and extremely lovable too!

I’ve only had one accident since returning and FM takes FULL credit for that one because she said, “C’mon, let’s go outside” and so I was ready to go and then the phone rang and FM forgot all about going outside--but my bladder didn’t.  Bad FM!  Other than that---I’ve been the most wonderful doggie in the world!  My foster family says I’m about as perfect a companion as they come!

Did you know I’m going to be at the Petco Event on Sunday?  I’m not totally myself at the events---lots of people and dogs—kinda overwhelming---but I’ll do my best.  Hope to see you there!

Love,

Miss Fancy Pants

HI Friends!!!  Look who’s back in RAGOMland!!! Yes—it’s Princess Fancy Pants!!!!

Fancy was adopted out a few months ago to a wonderful family, but for reasons we are unsure of, Miss Fancy Pants was not happy and communicated her unhappiness by pottying in the house.  As her foster family, we only experienced 2 potty accidents in our home the first couple days when Fancy first arrived from the farm (having lived in a barn previously) but zero after that and zero since she’s been back with us---now 6 days.  We know doggies communicate in different ways, and when a potty-trained dog starts pottying in the home, something is not right.  So, having ruled out any medical issues, and keeping Fancy’s best interests in mind, her new family returned her to RAGOM so that she could find a home that she would feel more comfortable and happy in.  We thank them for doing so and since Fancy has been back, she has returned to the happy-go-lucky, lover girl we knew her to be.

First stop---Cuddle time and Kisses with Foster Dad

Second stop---Hugs with a new friend and Doggie Playdates

Fancy in the Middle: Fancy’s tail rarely stops waggin’

Third stop---Gather up the “babies”---Thank you T&J Family for all the babies!

Ahhhh….Life is back to normal…Fancy’s “normal” anyways.

Fancy moved right back into our home and our schedule as if she had never left---greeted the crew happily, hugged all the 2-leggers and jumped up on the couch and made herself comfortable at home.

Fancy has not demonstrated any of the anxiety or potty issues she had at her adoptive home.  We don’t know if the stress was due to a personality conflict with Fancy and the resident dog or a member of the family, or simply the stress felt by not fitting in?   Either way…we know she knows what makes her happy and we will help her in her search for Happily Ever After…

Fancy’s Pathetic “Please Pet Me” look—it sure worked on the guests at Petco on Sunday!

Here's what we know about Fancy Girl...

Fancy is a pretty simple dog.
She wants to be where her people are.
If you are in the bathroom, she wants to be there with you.
If you are raking the leaves, she wants to be there with you.
If you are working on the computer, she will gladly keep you feet warm.
If you are enjoying a cup of coffee on the couch, she wants to enjoy the moment with you.
If you want to take a walk, she wants to go with you.
If you have to go to work---she’s ok with that.  She will wait until you get home and then your little shadow will return.

What makes Fancy unhappy:
If she knows you are home---she does not like to be separated from you by a closed door.  She wants to be in whatever room you are in or be able to see you.  She does not like to be left outside without her people…this is from her past---she lived in a barn for 9 years separated from the family---she wants nothing more in the world than to be  with the family and wants to “do life together” with her people.  Fancy wants to know she’s loved and cherished at all times and in return, she will be your very best friend in the world —“until death do us part.”

What makes Fancy happy:
A home that is low key and consistent--maybe a nice retired couple or empty nesters or single person would be great!
Owners that adore her---people she can love and that love to have her around & underfoot.
Having her face held, being touched and brushed and cuddled with. She loves a sweet voice!
No small children (too active we think for Fancy) and either fence or no fence.
Owners that are home more than not—we are gone 6-7 hrs and she is ok with that
We believe she needs another dog---mostly for when the 2-legger is gone, but she definitely prefers people.  Fancy gets along just great with our dogs—she’s always had another dog present—living with her sister in the barn for 9 years before coming into RAGOM.  She does not like young, hyper, in-your-face dogs---they must remind her of motherhood.

More to come on Princess Fancy Pants as we continue in the search for her Prince Charming and "Happily Ever After"...but for now...we are lucky to have her happy, little, funny, white face and beautiful personality with us!  What a little love bug!

Fancy Pants has figured out just where to go to get herself pampered!  Foster Dad is a big pushover for his little Princess...

 "Ohhhh...this is the Life!"

"Hey....is that it FD?"

" Ahhh...that's what I'm talking about!"

Fancy gets to meet our 1st RAGOM foster dog Brandi 10-127 and her wonderful family sometime next week for a reunion play-date!  Brandi can tell Fancy all about what happens when RAGOM doggies find their "Furever Family"...as she surely hit the Mega Jackpot ---a true RAGOM "Happily Ever After" story!

This week, Fancy is will be working on her "retrieving" skills.  She has the whole run and get the stuffed animal part aced, but after that...she goes astray...literally!  I think she has the game of Fetch confused with a game called Hide & Seek ---Fancy hides them and Foster Mom seeks them :)

Hope everyone in RAGOMland has a wonderful week and makes it to the Great MN Get-Together! Remember---Goldzilla is just weeks away now!  Hope you all are signed up for the big walk and are coming out to meet all the doggies :)

Once a Momma, Always a Momma… Our little resident RAGOM boy Jonah struggles with seasonal allergies and even with an allergy shot, he is quite miserable this time of year.  Miss Fancy Pants has picked up on this and does her best every day to comfort him.

Just the most precious act ever!  I bet she was a wonderful Momma!

Sunday, August 21, 2011

Ahhhh…nothing like enjoying a beautiful morning sunrise before a great day!

Fancy had her LAST vet appt. this morning.  She healed beautifully and is now "bandage-free" and ready to find her forever family.  Thank you again for all the GOOD Vibes--Everyone at the VCA was so impressed with how well she healed up!

Fancy Pants has really learned our schedule this week and is now very comfortable with us coming and going.  We arrive home each day to a big tail wag and a big wet kiss---always a wonderful way to come home!  We are looking for a family for Fancy that is not away from home longer than 6-8 hours at a time.  Of course...if long hours 8-10 are yours---but you have doggie daycare options or someone to be the mid-day person to break up the day...this would be fine.  Now that she has a taste of family life, we want to make sure she gets lots of it!  And of course---a doggie pal to "do life" with is also a must.

Resident Miley and Fancy Pants on our way to the BIG Event!

Thank you to everyone for coming out today!  So many RAGOM dogs and RAGOM Fans!  A special thank you to Anne for the extra loving hand.  Fancy ate it up!  Fancy took her first big appearance in a "reserved" stride.  It was her 1st public place--lots of people---lots of dogs---and full sun (which she is happiest in the shade.)  Fancy laid low, greeted the dogs perfectly and enjoyed all the hands..but boy...was she exhausted from all the activity and the sunshine!  Fancy crashed the second she jumped in the car. Once home, our little girl was all revived and back to normal---so happy to see her foster friends...especially the stuffed ones!

I love my Babies!  I even play fetch with them!

Fancy’s new hair is coming is so soft and thick!  She had to have most of her Golden feathering shaved away because of extensive mats and her surgery, but it’s starting to grow out again—so pretty!

As well as finding comfort with dogs, Fancy definitately finds comfort and happiness in her people!  She shows you her affection in many different ways, but this is one of my favorites...

If you are looking for a down right wonderful addition to your family, you have to check on Fancy.  She has found "the goods" on the Golden life which includes...lots of time with her owners, doggie friends, walks, hanging in the yard helping with chores, cuddling for a good movie, dog park fun, running errands, sleeping on a BIG Round comfy dog bed right next to her owner's bed, and most importantly---being LOVED and TOUCHED.  Sounds like a good life to live for a "retired" Barn Momma!  If you think you may be the family Miss Fancy Pants is dreaming of, please let your Placement advisor know. :)

Hi Fancy Fans!!!

As you can see....Fancy is loving her freedom to run!  It's like watching a little kid that just got the "go-ahead" to run and play after a "time-out."  Fancy has been on limited activity for two-weeks---so you can imagine how she's ready to stretch her legs and play!

After some good fun with the gang, Fancy is quite content to find a cool place in the shade and keep us company as we work on a landscaping project.

Then it's dinner time---which she LOVES LOVES LOVES!  After dinner, its time for our evening walk--another new favorite Fancy activity!

What a Gem! No fence needed with this girl...and if you have some land---no leash needed either.  Fancy is happy to walk about 20' out from you...then she comes back and touches her muzzle to your hand, then turns and walks ahead again and back for a touch and then repeat and repeat and repeat.  She continues to check in with you the whole walk----so adorable!  Fancy is still learning the leash walk----takes about 3 blocks before she gets the hang of it and then she's just perfect.

Fancy is now trusted with free roam while we are away! We found that the crate was adding some anxiety when we left home so we decided to see if she could be trusted with free roam while we are away and I'm happy to report she passes with flying colors!  No more crate for this girl!  Fancy is also completely potty-trained!  Goes right outside, does her business, and meets you back at the door.  Gotta love when they pick these things up so fast!!

Fancy will make her BIG RAGOM debut this Saturday from 11-1 at the Eden Prairie PetSmart event. Come out for some love and licks from Ms. Fancy Pants----but be warned----you will fall in LOVE!  See you there!

Thursday, August 11, 2011

Dear Lord,

Thank you for making me and my sister, Sweetie, RAGOM Girls.

Thank you for all the people praying for me to heal well--it's sure working!  We are now down to going to the vet every other day and I'm feeling great!

Thank you for my new fur-butt foster friends.  They are keeping me company until my forever family comes for me.  This is my foster sister Miley.  I especially like her...cuz she kinda reminds me of my sister. Miley used to live in a barn too, just like me, so she's showing me the ropes around here.  Foster Mom said it took Miley time to get used to living the Golden Life, but she finally figured it out and she loves it! I already know I'm gonna love the Golden Life!

Thank you for all the 2-leggers I'm surrounded by now---it's like being surrounded by beautiful flowers all the time.  I never seem to be without a leg to lean on which you know I need as I continue to learn what this new life is all about.  I'm still a little nervous when the 2-leggers are away because what if they don't come back?  Foster Mom says she will always come back, but I still can't help feeling a little nervous.  I love 2-leggers so much and want to be near them.  I promise to work on that.  Miley says it takes time, but I'll learn it's ok to be alone sometimes...especially if I have a fur-butt friend to hang with.

And finally, THANK YOU for RAGOM and all the wonderful care I've been getting from my friends at the VCA in Richfield...WOW!  They treat me like a Princess and I love them for it.  I had no idea how awesome life could be and I will make You very PROUD of me because I'm going to be such a blessing to my "forever" family and to everyone I can! I will love 'em, lick 'em, sit with 'em, walk with 'em and just be there to do LIFE with 'em....the Golden Life!

Thank you Lord!  Amen!

Your Girl-- Fancy Pants

Hi Fancy Fans!!!  THANK YOU so much for all the good vibes, prayers, and wishes!!!  Fancy has GOOD NEWS to share with you!

NO Cancer in the lumps that were removed!!!!  YEAH!!!!  Fancy is healing up slowly but surely.  We’ve been to the vet everyday to have her bandages changed out and she has definitely become a staff favorite! As you can see…Fancy is modeling the newest line of “cones” and a cute outfit to keep her from messing with her bandages…plus when she’s done healing, she will be ready for the beach no doubt! HA!

Fancy continues to wiggle her way into our hearts and our home---she is such a character!  Fancy is a LOVER Girl to the core!  She is what you’d call a “Velcro” dog---she wants to make sure you are near, or at least in sight, and will come looking for you if you should disappear for more than a few minutes—but even today—it took her about 15 minutes before she came looking so I imagine she will continue to relax knowing her people are not going far.  Fancy now sleeps right next to our bed on a big comfy dog bed (but she is just as happy on carpet) next to resident Miley and doesn’t make a move or a sound all night.  She’s 95% potty trained (only had 2 accidents all week—both happened as a reaction to being nervous)—which is pretty impressive considering she lived in a barn for almost 9 years.  Fancy is crated when we leave the home and sometimes when we are at home just to give her rest from following us around---as she needs time to heal from surgery.  She is not a huge fan of her crate---but does great in it and keeps it clean.

As you can see, Fancy is learning good leash walking skills and has Foster Dad to teach her the ropes.  Fancy also loves going for car rides, running errands, and meeting new people!  Yes—she is without a doubt the CLASSIC Golden Girl!  So far, we know Fancy will need another med-large size dog in her forever home---she has been with dogs her whole life and while she loves her people, she relies on the other dogs to show her what this new life is all about!  We will keep you posted on Fancy’s recovery and her new adventure as a RAGOM Girl!  Stay tuned as we continue to learn more about what Princess Fancy Pants will need in her forever home and please continue to send her good healing vibes---they are working!!!
