Finn (Phineaus 12-072)

Profile

Phineaus is an adorable purebred Golden puppy born November 8th, 2011 which makes him 15 weeks old. We call him Finn and he came to RAGOM via a family that only had him for two weeks and quickly realized they had underestimated the time and work involved to raise a puppy. Thank you to that family for wanting the best for Finn and calling RAGOM! We are not sure what the first 3 months of his life were like as he was bought from a pet store. I can tell you that he is a very sweet boy. He has settled in and seems fairly confident. Finn is curious about the world and only shows fear when my resident boy Skye does his big boy alert bark. Then Finn comes running with his ears tucked.

This cutie-pie is a bundle of puppy energy! If you have forgotten what that was like let me remind you---the puppy zoomies, tearing around the house or the yard from one end to the other, pestering every dog in sight, jumping, nipping, chewing on anything that looks fun--socks, Skye, chairs, electric chords, Skye, shoes, gloves, Skye. You get the picture. He is easily redirected to an appropriate toy but his attention span is short!

The thing about puppies is--they are so hysterically funny and so adorable that it is hard to resist them. A good year of working with them on manners and you have a great dog for life with just a bit of regular practice. Think about it.

Finn is crate trained and goes in easily with a treat and some toys when we head off to work. At night, he even puts himself into his crate as we head for bed. Not a peep out of him until the alarm goes off. He is 99% house trained and has only had one accident. He keeps his crate clean but I have a dog walker that comes midday to let them all out. Due to his age this midday check will be important for Finn until he is 8-9 months old. With an immature bladder it is unfair to expect a puppy to hold it for a normal work day. He needs his vet check, microchip and neuter and then he will be ready for his forever family.

Phineaus--now officially Finn is adopted! He got the best family any dog could ask for and I know he will be well cared for. HIs Mom and Dad are already head over heels for him.

Here is the note they sent:

Mr. Finn did so well with his neuter; he has not missed a beat. In fact, he is so active still we have to keep him on a leash outside and make him sit right next to us when we can so he doesn't run around and hurt his stitches. When I went to pick him up he came flying out of the back of the vet office like a bat out of hell :-) They said to keep him still, which I thought was kind of funny! He hasn't been going at his incision or messing with it at all.

He is doing SO WELL! He is incredibly smart if I do say so myself! He knows all sorts of stuff- sit, stay, down, leave it, drop it and my favorite- kiss kiss in which he touches noses with me :-) When we say "go to your kennel" he runs from wherever he is straight in there and waits for his peanut butter kong. He also knows to sit to get petted, let in, go out, anything so at his large 60 pounds he doesn't knock anyone over :-) He is over 60 pounds and still looks lanky and big-footed; I think he is going to be huge!!

We are so in love with him! Thank you so much again for choosing us to adopt him. We are so lucky!
