Finnegan (Kirby/Finnegan 07-357)

Profile

Kirby is a very sweet 3 yr. old neutered male Golden who has been at the Ottumwa Iowa shelter since August of 06 ---- he originally came to them as a stray.  He is super friendly, and is very free with his great kisses and hugs!   He handled the transport extremely well, hopped into the van with no prompting, and leaned as close to the edge of the crate as possible to take advantage of pats and scratches (and to give some of his famous kisses!).  Upon arrival at our house, he carefully sniffed and explored everything, then laid down for a tummy rub.  He has become so comfortable here already, and loves to follow both my husband and me around as we're doing things around the house.

The report from the shelter is that he is up to date on shots except for rabies.  It is unknown how he is with kids and cats, but was fine in the kennel setting being near other dogs.  He has no aggression issues, no resource guarding, loves to play with squeaky toys and tennis balls, is eating and drinking well, and has done all of his potty business outside.  Kirby will go to the vet on Monday, so I'll bring you more information about this heart-stealer then!

Finnegan came back into RAGOM because he needs a home with a fenced-in yard where he can chase squirrels, frolic in the leaves and run like the wind! He's a high energy dog who is very intelligent and extremely eager to please. As for his canine social skills, I've introduced him to the other four members of the pack and so far so good. Finnegan and RAGOM Bud 07-609 are quickly becoming quite the dynamic duo! As far as cats are concerned, he barks at them but that's about it.

Although I've only known Finnegan for a few days, he's a super dog that just needs a calm, assertive, forever "pack leader"!

I was temp fostering Kirby for the last day or so while his foster was out of town, and I snapped a great pic, and the foster said it'd be ok to put it up, so I did already :)  Thanks!

Hi, Kirby here!
I got to go to something called a RAGOM picnic last Saturday.  I'm not sure what a 'picnic' is, but from what I can tell, it's a place that has a really huge fenced in area where you can go and play with lots and lots of other Goldens, you can run to your heart's content, and even jump into doggie wading pools!!   Did I mention that I LOVE to run, and LOVE the water??? There were lots of shade trees there, so it was nice to lay under them and rest once in a while, too.  It was fun to get tons of pats and belly rubs from so many different people and kids, and it was grrreat to hang around with so many Goldens who are fosters, just like me!! Here are a couple of pictures of me at the picnic --- in the pool, and just relaxing in the breeze, drying off. Well, gotta go.  Foster Mom says it's time to go for a walk (yippeee!)
