Ford 07-600

Profile

Ford has joined our foster family today. He is an adorable Golden who was a stray at a shelter. A good samaritan saved Ford from death row at the shelter and made sure he was safe. RAGOM stepped up to rescue him and now, he is with our lively family.

This guy is perhaps the most handsome Golden we've ever fostered. He is sweet, mild mannered, loves people, kids and other dogs. He is a gentle soul with a blonde coat, big blocky head and chocolate eyes.

Unfortunately, Ford is not available yet. While at a routine vet check today, our doc discovered some sad news about sweet Ford. He has an old "injury" to his leg that is obviously troubling him and painful. He favors it quite a bit and it is noticeably thicker in form than his other leg. The vet is not sure exactly what it is or what to do with it until further xrays can be done. Since Ford does also need to be altered, she felt it best to wait until he was under for the surgery to get complete xrays. She is not ruling out anything at this time. It could be any number of things so until we know for sure what is going on with Ford's legs, he will stay in foster care and take it easy.

This boy is a total love. He is underweight some (weighs about 65 pounds)and needs to fatten up a bit. His skin did have a couple of hot spots but they are mostly healed. His heartworm tests are negative and he is up to date on his vaccines. Sadly, he is microchipped but when we checked Home Again, no one had registered him. So his previous owner can not be found.

He met everyone in our family tonight and loved them all. He plays so nicely with the other dogs and layed with our son and was so gentle. He licked Jake's face and welcomed the attention. He lay down next to the kids on the floor while we were eating and not once begged a morsel. He LOVES to fetch....any object you will throw. And, even with his sore leg, he wants to play.

Ford's medical costs will no doubt be increasing dramatically so if you'd like to sponsor this great dog please let RAGOM know. More updates and pictures to come soon.

Here is Ford. What a ham. He loves his kongs and will chew on them and carry them around.

He also thinks he is a lap dog which is really not the case but I could always use an extra blankie.

He and I play fetch everyday, rain, snow, sunshine..whatever the weather. He is a great dog who will make a family very happy.

Here is Ford again. He and Vinnie playing, lounging with Vinnie and Maddie and getting a daily dose of love from our son. Ford is doing very well!

He went on a home visit with me for RAGOM and the folks fell for him. We are hoping for a perfect match and will keep you posted.

Hi everyone. New pics of Ford having lots of fun. Here he is playing with his best doggie bud, Vinnie. Vinnie and Ford have really grown to like each other and they play hard all day long. (Ford is on the right)

Ford loves it outdoors. He will run and fetch anything you throw and likes to play a little game of catch me if you can when he brings it back. We put Christmas decorations up yesterday and for the first time, Ford was greeted by the fake Santa in the corner. He approached with sincere caution and as he got closer, he sniffed and the Santa moved so he ran off behind my husband. When Byron said "BOO" Ford jumped and barked at it. It was hilarious.

We started Ford on the anti inflammatory Previcox. He takes 1/2 to 1 pill daily for arthritis. It has worked great these first few weeks. He is putting weight on his right leg now and is such a joy to watch.

I know there are some folks who may be scared off by his arthritis but I can assure you he is healthy and happy and acts just like all my other dogs. He is a sweet, loving boy who responds to human attention but is not "needy".

Just a couple months ago, Ford was a stray on death row. Now, he is a beautiful, healthy family member who is really no work at all. He is a total love bug and would especially like some children in his forever home.

Ford is doing great as you can see by his new pictures. He is recovering nicely from his neuter surgery and running all over the place. He absolutely will have to go to a new home with someone who can toss a ball and play tug of war.

Ford loves kids and other dogs. He respects babygates, likes to sleep in his crate at night with the door open, is housetrained, doesn't chew on anything inappropriate and loves to snuggle. He jumps in bed with our son each night to read a book and get his kisses.

Please don't pass this boy up. He will do well in just about any home and is a perfect house guest.
