Frankie 08-073

Profile
Frankie has been with us for 4 days now. She has easily adapted to her new, temporary home and although it's too early to really know her she has fit in wonderfully. She is 68 lbs, tall and lean, with a gorgeous, soft, reddish gold coat! As close to perfect physically as any dog could be. If I was another dog I would think that she was some type of world class athlete. Her previous owner knew how to keep her fit, long walks, proper diet and agility training have suited Frankie well. We had Frankie at the vet yesterday and they said she was in excellent shape and had perfect manners. She really impressed the entire staff.
Frankie came to us from a family that showered her with love and affection. That was so easy to see especially with how upset her surrendering owner/mother was with having to let her go. There were many tears and such a high amount of emotion. I could tell she really loved Frankie and didn't want to let her go. Dad was obviously concerned as well and very in tune with Frankie knowing her like his own child. Life happens and circumstances change. There was an incident where Frankie injured another dog and now she is with us for a while, looking for another place to share her happiness.
I am completely impressed with how well trained Frankie is, knowing all of the basic commands. Sit, come, wait, down, etc. What a joy !!! She really is well behaved and is very easy to get along with. She walks on the leash like a pro and has no issues interacting with any people we have introduced her to. No resource guarding or any issues like that either. She does get excited when people come to the house or walk by but thats just be the puppy in her, she is still quite young. I should mention that if you have a tennis ball you can be her best friend and she will actually throw it back to you, or at least it sure seems that way.
Frankie really loves being around people. She LOVES to bury her head in your lap or against you and have you scratch her head, she is VERY affectionate! If you let her she will kiss you (as kisses go for a dog :). I have enjoyed coming home from work and having her greet me at the door. Frankie LOVES waking up our son Jim in the morning by jumping on his bed, licking his face and rolling all over him till he gets up :D Jim likes it too!
Here is a list of things I have observed about Frankie
- She is playful and loves attention
- Loves all people big and small
- No resource guarding with people or our resident dog and visiting dogs
- She "sometimes" pays too much attention to other dogs/unfamiliar dogs on walks. Possibly a little fear based aggression. She has been easily calmed when this happens. We get her attention back on us. Continue with our walk, no problem. We are sure to reward good behavior and that works like a charm on her
- Our resident dog Tank (Shih Tzu grumpy old guy) warned her off with a growl and Frankie respected that. They have not had any real problems with each other
- Loves riding in the car either in a kennel or passenger seat (with proper harness)
- Walks are super easy and she knows how it works
- Has full roam of the house with no issues, might be a counter surfer but we haven't witnessed it yet
- Curious about our cat but our cat won't let Frankie anywhere near. Our cat is usually slow to warm to any new visitors in our home
- Housetrained and lets you know when it is time with a whine or soft bark near the door
- Up to date on all her medicals, spayed, chipped, treated for flea and ticks and her 3 year birthday is tomorrow>/UL>
For what it's worth, Frankie will always be welcome in our home, forever if necessary.
