Gabe has arrived!!! CUTE? ,  check! , Puppy? ,  check! What more do you need to know :) Okay.... here's the scoop: Gabe is a 5 month old, male, Golden Retriever. He arrived today after a long trip from Iowa (THANKS to his transporters Cheerie and Linda!) Gabe is UTD on all vaccines and very healthy. He met all 4 other dogs here at his foster home in Oakdale with no issues. He did do a bit of submissive/excited? peeing, but other than that it was tail wags all around. Speaking of tails.... Gabe's tail is docked. Or it looks it anyway. We don't know what happened to it, but... all I can say is: No tail to sweep things off the coffee table.... bonus! :) He JUST arrived, so we don't know much else. He was surrendered because he had too much energy for the other dog in his house :( Poor Gabe, he is a puppy after all. He is said to be house trained, and knows some basics: sit and down. Obedience training will be a MUST in his forever home, as it should be for all puppies. He seems to be a Golden through and through, and should aim to please and  be a quick study. He rides like a dream in the car, and is sweet as can be. I will write more and send more photos as we get to know this cutie pie. It is probably safe to say this adorable boy will not be in foster care long at all.... we better enjoy him while we can! Thanks for reading about Gabe! Stay Tuned :)

Gabe has hit the forever home jackpot!  He was adopted by Joe and Karen tonight and headed home to meet some very excited extended family members (Joe and Karen's adult children).  Joe works from home, so Gabe will be his right hand man -- providing all necessary comedic relief, stress reduction breaks and foot warming services during the work day.  Gabe's new mom could not be more excited about her new boy and has already bought him "a ton!!" (per Joe) of new toys.  Gabe will be living the golden life -- sleeping in bed with his people, going to the dog park and trips to the lake.  Congratulations Gabe, you are sweet boy who deserves all of the happiness that I know you will find with Joe and Karen.

Gabe has had a great weekend with us. We have learned more and more about him and there just is nothing not to love about this boy :) He is very much a puppy, and doesn't have much for manners or training, but that isn't his fault, and he is more than willing and able to learn all of the things that will help him become a great dog! He has a great amount of energy... he is playful, active, and fun like a puppy should be... but he isn't bouncing off the walls crazy, like some puppies can be! He really does love to snuggle and be close to his people. He walks really well on a leash for a guy his age, I am impressed (and a little jealous!) my resident dogs could learn some things about leash walking from Gabe! He loooves to go for walks! He would make a great walking partner, and probably a great jogging partner... once he grows up!   Gabe took a trip to Grandma and Grandpa's over the weekend, he met their two dogs without an issue. My parents just loved him!!! I think if they were thinking of adopting a dog at this time, Gabe would be IT. My dad could not get over is cute face!! He is one of the cutest puppies I have ever seen. His face is priceless.   Gabe will be going in for his neuter surgery tomorrow. (Shhhhh!!) I have one concern that I will have the vet check out tomorrow. He has a wide stance, and his back legs are bowed. He sways from side to side when he walks and I am concerned about his hips. However, with that said... he doesn't show any pain, doesn't have any trouble with our stairs, wood floors, he plays and runs and never shows any problems so... it may just be paranoid foster mom! It will be good to just have the vet take a peak, and take x-rays if needed, he will be sleeping for surgery anyway. I am really not anticipating a problem, but check back in tomorrow, I will update more as I know more.   This cutie pie has charmed us in only a few days, it is easy as can be to fall in love with him. He is on his third home already in his very, very young life :( ... his 4th home will be forever for him, he deserves that so much. He will need patience, understanding, training, and lots and lots of LOVE in his forever home. Other than those few things I think he could fit in almost anywhere :) He sure has melted his way into our hearts and our home!   Thanks for checking in with Gabe (the cute one)! Keep him in your thoughts for his surgery tomorrow :) Always smilin'Look at that FACE!

Gabe, the cute one, or Gabey Baby... has been here 24 hours and is doing just great! He is mellow for a boy his age. He has an all around wonderful personality! He has that happy-go-lucky golden thing goin' on  :) Gabe didn't find it tough at all to fit in with the pack here and has learned that Bella and Chip don't really care to play with him (on their terms only of course!) but that Gracie would loooove to play with him :) He has also learned that Martini (the little one) is the boss, and the queen, and she might just allow you to play with her if you're very lucky! Gabe's favorite are foster mom and dad though. He is a people puppy :) He just wants to be near. Last night he slept on our bed and didn't move all night!   This morning we had a little scare... the dogs were out in the fenced in backyard, and I was in the kitchen I heard barking, looked out the window and saw Gabe, on the other side of the fence! He was running the fence line and barking at Gracie like... I want to get back in there with you, but I don't know how. Still,  Oh my goodness!!!! I had this moment of terror, what if he won't come to me? What am I going to do??? I ran out the front door and frantically yelled for Gabe... he FLEW to me! Good Boy :) Foster dad and I then inspected our fence. We found an place on the bottom of our fence that had been pushed up... just enough room for a puppy to get out. (FD has a project today!) I don't think Gabe wanted to "get away" I think he was being a curious puppy. Like I said, it looked like he wanted back IN the fence after he got out, and he ran to me when I called him. Thank Goodness. That was a little too much excitement for me on a Saturday morning!   Gabe has proven himself to be house trained, he has not had a single accident. He stands by the back door when he would like to go outside. He was crated last night when I had to leave the house for a little while and had no problems going in. Just a quick kennel up and he went right in and laid down. He really is that easy going, happy puppy that will make someone an incredible best friend. There is a family out there about to get VERY lucky. Gabe needs to be microchipped and neutered. Both of those will be take care of early next week. After that he will be ready to start looking for his forever home :) This guy has a spirit that is incredible. He has a love for life you can see in his eyes, we are lucky to have him as a foster! What a fun guy :)   Thanks for reading about the cute one!
