One week ago today Sasha, now known as Galaxy Star, met her forever family. She was adopted by the S and D family and she has an older fur brother named Echo (Boomer 13-348). Galaxy is their fourth RAGOM dog!
I couldn't have asked for a more ideal forever family for her! Her parents are retired and spend lots of time with the dogs playing in the backyard, walking, and taking trips to their cabin. Echo may help teach his little sister the thrill of kayaking (see the August 2020 RAGOM calendar).
I think they are the perfect family to help her overcome her fears to become the confident, relaxed, and playful Golden that she deserves to be!
Congratulations, Galaxy, J & P, and Echo!
XOXO,
Foster Dad

Sunday, October 27, will mark the 6-month anniversary since Sasha came into RAGOM's care. Saturday, October 26, could be a very big day for Sasha. She has a family coming to meet her. Paws crossed that if it is a good fit, she may have a forever home with repeat RAGOM adopters!
After Goldzilla, Sasha was able to take some relaxing trips back up to Foster Dad's cabin in northern Minnesota. We went back up to close things down for the season the first weekend in October. Sasha rides well in the car with her pals. And she enjoyed the walks down the quiet country road.
We were at another RAGOM volunteer's house last weekend for a doggie playdate. Sasha did very well and stayed close by to the humans.
Looking back at the past six months, it is easy to see how she has changed. She plays more with rmy esident dog, Bella, both in the house and outside. She and Bella will wrestle in my bedroom while I am getting ready for work in another part of the house.
She comes out from her safe spot of her pet bed in my bedroom to check out what we are doing in the other parts of the house. Every morning and evening when I am filling the dog dishes with food, she peers out from the bedroom doorway to see if I am done and coming back to her with her dish.
Stay tuned for the update on this weekend's meeting with the family!

Sasha wants her fans to know that although she would love to meet you at Goldzilla, she will not be able to do so. The amount of people and dogs as well as the noise would stress her out, and she would likely try to run away in fear. So, to keep her safe, she will forgo Goldzilla 2019.
Sasha was spayed at the end of July and recovered very well from the surgery. She has taken a couple more road trips up to the cabin. Our latest was this past Labor Day weekend.
Sasha is nervous when we first go outside of the cabin in the yard. She likes to circle Foster Dad numerous times for several minutes before she calms down. Once she has calmed down, we were able to enjoy some nice long walks on our quiet country road.
Sasha also attended her first meet-and-greet in August at the Edina Chuck and Don's store. She went with resident dog, Bella, and found a quiet corner to huddle in. Hopefully after Goldzilla, we will try another meet-and-greet event and get more exposure to her fans.
Please enjoy Goldzilla this weekend! If you would like to make a pledge to Sasha's page, follow this link.

Foster Dad apologizes for taking so long to send a new update on Sasha. Hopefully you can see from the latest pictures that Sasha has been enjoying new experiences outside of the safety of her foster home.
The latest pictures are of Sasha at a fellow RAGOM volunteer's house where Sasha could chill out along with a number of RAGOM adopted dogs and a fellow foster.
She was calm enough on the latest adventure to lay down fairly close to other humans and even closed her eyes to try and take a quick nap. She also indulged in some quick tasty treats of chicken when no one was watching her.
Thanks, Marsha M, for hosting the playdate!
We hope to be able to schedule her spay surgery really soon. She is likely getting closer to the 50-pound range and looks so much better than her intake of only 35 pounds.
We are still working on getting her used to being on a leash. Hopefully soon we will be brave enough to venture out for a walk other than in a fenced-in yard. We were able to enjoy several walks on our very quiet cabin road on our visits in May and June.
Sasha's ideal forever home will have to be one that is quiet and with parents that are patient in helping her to overcome her fear of sudden movements and loud noises.

Please welcome Sasha into the RAGOM family. She has been in foster care just over 4 weeks now. Luckily for Sasha and her sisters (Fortuna and Lucy), they were saved from a continued life of being a breeder dog.
Sadly, Sasha weighed a mere 35 pounds for a 2-year-old female. She was just into our vet for a distemper booster shot and a recheck on her ear infections. She is now up to 42 pounds and has additional medication to help clear up her ear infections.
Sasha is slowly starting to trust her Foster Dad. Sudden movements and loud noises definitely send her scurrying to her safe spots.
We are working on building her confidence through all her new experiences. She will play with my resident dog Bella when I am not looking. She also will move some of the toys and dog bones at night.
If you look closely at her pictures, you can see she has adorable long fuzz on the top of her head. Sasha is a beautiful, darker-red girl that is looking for that perfect home that will help her to become a happy, playful girl!
