Ginny 06-477

Profile

11/14/16: Ginny is a very petite young female (appx. 6 mos. old) that came from a farm in Missouri where she lived outside with her dog pack. She came to our home yesterday afternoon. She is shy but she wags her tail when we talk to her. It is clear to see that she wants to trust us so I am optimistic that she will not be shy for long. She gets along quite well with our other two dogs. The three of them formed an instant friendship, playing chase in the yard. She does the cutest thing when she plays! She lifts one paw into the air as if she is beckoning the other dogs to come play. She takes treats from my hand and is a good eater, cleaning her bowl at each feeding. She is not used to being on a leash and will pull against it because it frightens her. We will be working slowly on this concept this week. She enjoys her crate and will go into it on her own will. She is a gentle little soul. More to come as she settles in.

WANTED: A Forever Home

Who: Ginny (aka Miss Wiggles), a young lass with a sunny disposition

What: Seeking a forever home to call her own

Where: Next to you, her human - her object of undying loyalty and devotion

When: She's ready when you are

Why: Born into a pack of dogs, she's never had a human of her very own

How: Contact placementatragom [dot] org

Are you the home Ginny has been looking for? We call her Miss Wiggles because her whole body wags and wiggles when she gets excited. She is doing so well. Her health issues are cleared up, she is a good eater (she gained 6 lbs), doesn't mind being crated, and walks nicely on a leash. She gets along well with our other dogs and our cat, doesn't jump on people, is calm and not mouthy. She is curious and wants to be near you to see what you're doing. Ginny enjoys her Kong, rawhide bones, and will chase a ball. Ginny has not been around children enough to say she is child-tested.

Ginny will be a nice companion. Please contact Placementatragom [dot] org if you would like to meet her.

We have learned that Ginny is frightened in the car. She was understandably nervous the first time we had her in our car for her ride up from Iowa, but when Ginny took a short ride to the park yesterday, she was trembling. We will have to take small trips around town to get her used to car rides.

Ginny was well behaved with our Thanksgiving guests. She did not care to sniff their outstretched hands early in the day, but she did manage a bit of courage by evening. Ginny will approach my husband's 9 year old son for affection but is indifferent to his 5 year old son. We do know that she has not shown any agression toward anyone or anything so far. She is not "high energy" nor does she jump up on people.

Ginny has not had any accidents in the house while she has been free to roam. I think she just prefers to potty outside. Most evenings when she is in her crate, she will whine softly to go outside. It doesn't take long for her to potty and come back inside to settle down for the night. She is really enjoying her walks now. We walk right along a busy road and she is not afraid. When we get the leashes out Ginny will come right up to us, ready to go.

She no longer has that little cough and she no longer scratches her ears. Her foster dad gave her a bath and she tolerated it well. Her fur is so soft now! She was brushed with an undercoat rake and looks fluffy. If you would like to meet Ginny and see her sunny disposition first hand, please email placementatragom [dot] org.

Ginny is doing very well. She visited the vet on 11/14 and he confirmed her age to be close to 6 months old as she has all of her teeth and they are shiny white and new. He believes Ginny to be mixed with possibly border collie. Ginny was shy with the vet but allowed him to handle her as needed. She has a yeast infection in her ears and the parasite coccidia, so we are treating for both. She weighs 37 lbs and we will be looking to put on a little weight as she is thin. She will probably grow to be about 2 inches taller. She is UTD on her shots hand has been spayed.

Ginny continues to enjoy the company of our two resident dogs. They wrestle and chase each other in the back yard. Ginny has quickly got the hang of coming in and out for potty breaks and play time following the lead of our other dogs. She has gone on two leash walks with her foster dad so far this week. She was unsure at first, but again, followed along with the other dogs. Loud traffic noises frighten her but as we continue our walks I believe we will see improvement with this. She is getting more brave and is beginning to investigate other parts of the house (under the watchful eye of her foster mom). Her favorite spot to sleep outside of her crate is under a plant on the porch. She is crated during the work day and at bedtime but outside of those hours we leave the crate door open so she can go in and out as she pleases. So far, she has not chewed on any inappropriate items but does enjoy a rawhide bone!

She is an upbeat, genuine sweetheart, that will make someone very happy!
