2/20/07: This is Golden Nugget (she is as pretty as her name), otherwise know as number 395 on the auction block. She came into RAGOM from a disbursement sale (i.e. a puppy mill going out of business auction). Goldie (as I call her) has all kinds of registration certificates stating she is a pure bred Golden Retriever. But what they don't say is that she has never chased a ball, how she is with kids, or cats. If she is housebroken or if she likes any kind of exercise. Swimming, running in a field, or just walking in a park. Imagine a Retriever who has never had the opportunity to retrieve anything - a ball, a stick or even an old shoe. She is 4.5 years old and possibly pregnant because they bred her just before the auction because pregnant females go for more money. I should call her Lucky, because she ended up with a rescue group. With all that behind her, she will find out what it is to live the good life. She is really timid and afraid of everything and everyone, except Lewie (resident dog). She sticks to him like glue. And he likes it, makes him feel studly. And oddly enough she has had no accidents in the house. Her favorite spot is in the crate. More like her safe spot. But tonight I put a leash on her and brought her into the front room to lay by the couch and she stayed for quite awhile. She has only been here since Sunday, so she hasn't had a lot of time to adjust yet. We have walked in the mornings and she does great as long as Lewie is in front of her. Because she was bred not too long ago, we are not sure if she is pregnant. We are going to have to wait a month to find out. If she is, she will be with us until the puppies are born and they are ready to be adopted. If not, she will then be spayed and ready for adoption. And she is fine around cats! I will keep you updated on this special girl.

Goldie went to heaven on 11/14/14. Hopefully she finds her friend Shade, her mentor when she came to live with us. Goldie was very sick for a couple weeks and nothing helped finally she was found with a Mega esophagus.

We had 8 great years with her. We loved her so much; she was our girl. Pumpkin the cat and she were best buds! They always slept together, now Pumpkin sleeps on Goldie’s blanket. We all miss her so much, our hearts are broken. Thank You Ragom for giving us Goldie to love and be part of our family! She was 12 ½ yrs old. She was rescued from a puppy mill.

Boy was I surprised to walk into the mud room and find Golden Nugget 07-053 and Samantha 07-136 sharing a crate!!! One from North Dakota and the other from Missouri. These two have a lot in common, even though they are from different states.
