Goldie 06-257

Profile

6/19/06: Well, Goldie arrived with the other 4 Iowa boys safe and sound yesterday evening. Goldie is a 6 month old intact male, beautifully dark, seems to be house trained (no accidents yet!) and is only 30 lbs right now...definitely could stand to gain a little weight! Anyway, he was fantastic on the way down to my house from MPLS, and he slept almost the entire way...not to mention sleeping though the night! Today was VET DAY! He got his vaccs updated, had his physical, and my vet said he's in fantastic shape for being stuck in a shelter for a month. The only thing that showed up was round worm, and he started his treatment for that tonight. I cannot believe how well mannered and CALM this little boy is! He met a lot of new people at the vet clinic, and just sat/laid there while people smothered him with pats and told him how cute he was. Well, that's about it for now. More will come as I get to know this wonderful little boy better!

Goldie once again slept through the night, and is learning how to play with my 2 other puppies. He's a real comedian! I have also discovered a serious love for plush toys (especially ones with squeakers). He loves to grab the stuffed duck toy and struts through the house showing everyone what a fantastic boy he is, then holds it out for my 6 month old Golden, lures her in, and then runs off hoping she'll chase him. It's priceless! We have also figured out that he really has no interest in cats other than to look at them, and have the occasional sniff. He has not tried to chase my big fluffy Siberian, or the tiny 13 week old kitten....yet. He seems very content to just watch them, and then play with a toy. This boy is an absolute joy to have around, and seems to want to do nothing but make you happy. We're starting to work on some commands, and he's extremely receptive. I just hope that he'll still feel that way after he's neutered on Thursday morning! At this point, I think that a family with or with out other animals would be fine. If he's going to be the only one, he'll need a lot of time with his people (he thinks he's a lap dog!). This little boy is going to be a wonderful addition to a VERY lucky family! If you're interested in adopting Goldie, please email placementatragom [dot] org and let them know! I have a feeling that this little boy will go quickly!
