Each time our family has taken in a new foster dog, we never know quite what to expect. As we pulled into the driveway to pick up Goldie we were excited to meet our new foster who we knew so little about. We knew she was six years old, not spayed (we'll be getting that done soon), was a breeder, had been sleeping in a kennel in a barn, and was housebroken. As soon as Goldie sauntered out the front door to greet us with a big smile on her face and a wagging tail, we knew she would be a great fit for our house until she finds her forever home. She greeted us without jumping up and did great meeting our other two dogs. She also sat quietly looking out the window on the car ride home, a perfect lady!
Goldie hadn't had a lot of grooming, she was about as stinky as she is sweet. For not being groomed too frequently she handled a good brushing and a bath like a pro! She was nervous when we first brought her through the doorway of our house, we think she might not be used to being allowed inside. After the first night however, she comes in and out without thinking twice about it. Goldie has barked only once that we've heard which is impressive with all the barking dogs in our neighborhood. When on a leash, Goldie walks nicely and stays by our side, she even stays close when off leash. Goldie sleeps in a crate in our bedroom and also stays in there when we're gone at work. She willingly goes into the crate and sleeps through the night.
We really can't say enough good things about this sweetie pie! She LOVES attention and to be by people. The only fault we've seen in her so far is that she can be jealous of our other dogs when we give them attention. She hasn't nipped at them but she has growled to make her presence known. She hasn't shown any aggressive behaviors with our dogs when it comes to food or toys and definitely hasn't been aggressive towards people. Goldie has had a lot of changes over the last few days and she is adapting wonderfully!
