Welcome Goofer.  This sweet boy made his way safely from Iowa last night by way of the fabulous RAGOM transport volunteers.  He was sadly surrendered due to a military deployment.  We salute him and thank him!  It is clear Goofer was loved and it shows in his gentle and loving golden personality.

Goofer and I enjoyed a shopping trip to PETCO today to purchase some new stuffed toys.  He behaved beautifully and was a big hit with the customers and the employees.

Goofer is getting along great with my 3 resident goldens. Sharing toys and demonstrating proper fetch techniques.  Goofer is reported to have severe thunderstorm anxiety when people are not present, which we have yet to encounter.  It has also been noted that he should not be crated.  Based on this history, Goofer will benefit in a home where his owner can be present during such episodes.

We will make an appointment to have Goofer updated on his vaccinations tomorrow, and we will keep you posted.

A big fat thanks to Engelsma Construction for sponsoring Goofer and allowing him to hang out at the office a couple of days last week.  The weatherman was making it sound like we were going to have some thunder boomers, but it never happened - except on the day I left Goofer at home.  But I came home to an orderly house and no apparent destruction.  Hmmm.  Well it was fun having him at the office.  He was a big hit, very well behaved and we enjoyed our lunch hour walks.   Goofer got a bath this weekend and now he smells as good as he looks!  He did not want me to lift him into the tub, but he followed me right in when I stepped into the water.  How easy is that?!  What a sweet little push-over.   He's a heart stealer, this one.

Gorgeous Goofer is hangin out and hoping to find a forever home that will pick up the ball.... and throw it!  He is very skillful in the catch and retrieve arena.  Goofer's attribute of the week (besides the obvious cute factor) is "best in pack" for cooperating while getting a toenail clipping.  Good Goofer.  Goofer learned pretty quickly which dish belongs to him and is also learning to take treats from the hand "Gentle".  I could see Goofer in a forever home with an active family, and just as easily in a quiet home with a nice back yard for chasing balls.
