Gracie has made it to her new home! She is very excited to get tons of walks and explore Minnesota on her hikes. She will enjoy many cuddles and all the love with her new family.

After spending more time with RAGOM in a new foster home, we have been better able to zero in on Gracie's furever home requirements. Although she adores her humans, is a sweetheart and a cuddle bug, she does have a few issues that will require patience and training. She requires a home with no other animals due to lack of socialization in her early years.

She needs plenty of exercise for her puppy energy. We are working on her walking manners as she tends to pull, chase squirrels and has the potential to be reactive to other dogs. Most likely professional training will be required for her to be able to interact with other dogs. On walks, she is being trained on a gentle leader but she's still getting used to it.

Inside, she is definitely a lapdog. Her favorite place is curled up on top of you. She tends to counter surf, so a clean countertop is important. She does respond well to "off". Though not destructive of the house, she will destroy toys. She is very curious and will be up in your business to see what you're doing or holding. She is housetrained and knows what "outside" is.

Gracie is a super sweet dog who is very loving of her humans. She needs a family that is patient and realizes that work will be needed for her to tolerate encounters with other dogs outside of the home.

Hello Minnesota!!  My name is Gracie and I'm a young golden retriever that made my way from China to RAGOM and I am one happy pooch. I am approximately 1 year old and am a dark golden so I blend in really well with the fall season in the upper Midwest.

Because I'm a young girl, I have a lot of energy and am already considered pretty darn smart. Within 10 minutes I understood Sit, Stay, Ready and Go!  Then off I go retrieving a tennis ball.  My foster runs out of steam before I do and it works well because she says it's part of her exercise program.  So we have identified a win-win situation.

Now my foster would like to chime in on my behalf:

Thank you Gracie. I will second how smart Gracie is. Maybe she's bilingual. Her very best attribute is that she absolutely LOVES people and since she is a young girl would be best with children 13+ due to her energy level.

I would also recommend that she be an only dog. She is a bit reactive with other dogs and doesn't much care for cats. Her new adoptive family should commit to professional training and I truly believe her reactiveness can be successfully managed or even negated. This will make walking her easier when you meet up with other dogs-and she loves to walk and have new adventures.

She chases squirrels and rabbits in my backyard so it would be important to have a fence to keep her safe; otherwise, I would be afraid that she could take off chasing an animal.

Great news is that Gracie is house trained and sleeps well in a kennel overnight. When I work short 4-hr shifts she doesn't mind hanging out in her kennel.

Gracie also keeps herself entertained which I have never witnessed before without a tasty bone. She absolutely loves squeaky toys and trots behind me while I mow the lawn.  So she isn't afraid of loud noises.

Gracie is really a fun girl and is a WIP (work in progress). She also knows how to hug and how sweet is that?? If you would enjoy adding a dog to your family, I think you would find Gracie a pleasure.

So for now I'll say "Good night, Gracie".

Gracie (Tiger) came over from China with a group of golden retrievers lucky enough to be rescued with the help of many wonderful volunteers. Originally told that Gracie is 4 years old, we have found out through our first vet check-up that Gracie is between 1 and 2 years old, but probably closer to 1 year in age.

Gracie has been with her foster family a little over a week now and here is what we have learned about her so far. Even though she is from China, we do believe she understands some English.

Gracie has done well in our house with two other large resident dogs after slow introductions. She will occasionally engage in play with them one at a time. Gracie would do fine in a home with other large dogs but most likely not a home with cats due to a high prey drive.

Gracie is still a puppy therefore she has a lot of energy and requires a couple of walks a day. After she is old enough I think she could make a great running partner.

Gracie does have a few behavioral items to work through. She loves toys and thinks all of them are hers, therefore she can only have one toy at a time right now or she hoards them. Gracie also likes to counter surf, which we found out very quickly. We are working through this along with some other manners that she was most likely never taught.

In Gracie's future home it would be best if there were no children under 10 because of how much energy she has and because she does jump on people and could easily knock down a smaller child.

Gracie will also require a fenced in yard and an active family so she can get the exercise she needs. Gracie, like most goldens, also loves attention and being with her people.
