Please welcome Miss Trixie into the RAGOM family. Trixie is a gorgeous, small PB female who was found as a stray in Nebraska.  She arrived in MN last Saturday after her long car ride, which she wasn’t thrilled about.  On Sunday we took her to the Vet when we noticed tapeworms in her stool and very dirty, infected ears.  She weighs 53 lbs and the Vet thinks she is about 2 years old.  Trixie received her first treatment for the worms, had her ears treated, and now is UTD and microchipped.  She will be spayed next Monday.

Trixie has come a long way in the 4 days that we have had her.  The lady who found her kept her tied outside and didn’t know if she was housetrained.  Trixie spent her first night here in a crate, but has earned the freedom to sleep on the floor next to the bed.  While we are at work, Trixie and our resident have been blocked in the kitchen.  Soon she should have free roam of our house because she hasn’t chewed anything inappropriate or had any accidents!

We were told that she was afraid of men, but we haven’t seen that at all, especially when she gets fed and taken on walks by Foster Dad!  Someone worked with her because she walks on a leash without pulling and knows some basic commands.  She is still a little skittish with sudden movements and loud sounds.  For whatever reason, she cowers and wants to run into the house when we get the tennis racket out to hit balls for our resident dog.  We thought his excited barking was scaring her, until we saw the reaction to the racket.  Now he chases the balls after she is back in the house.

With great sadness, we announce that our RAGOM girl Gracie (#09-333 formerly Trixie) went over the Rainbow Bridge on March 14, 2019. She was in love with life and had an big personality that filled our hearts and home. She had a rough start in life before RAGOM found her. It took lots of tender training and encouragement before she opened up and trusted us in her forever home.

We had 10 good years of fun together with lots of walks, snuggles on the sofa and chasing balls.

Gracie loved to be outside and follow the smells that the wildlife left the night before. She was a hunter of chipmunks and squirrels. She especially loved her boat rides....her absolute favorite. We imagine that she is now enjoying all her favorite things without the illness that plagued her these last seven months.

Gracie had a mass growing in her sinuses that caused her to have a continuous bloody nose from her right nostril. She also started sneezing blood and had some difficulty swallowing. We did try a Chinese herbal medicine offered by the Blue Pearl Vet Clinic. It did stop the bleeding for a while, but eventually, her eye socket was affected and we knew it was time to let her go.

Right up to the very end, she had fought hard to be involved with everyday life. Her spirits high and always up for the next adventure. She never let on that she was hurting inside. She is sorely missed.

Someday, we will play together again. Goodbye for now Gracie.  We love you!
