Sometimes when it's time to write the first update for a new foster you try to think of new ways to describe the dog. I'm here to tell you when it comes to Grant all the tried and true things said about a Golden come to mind. He is between 7 and 8 years old, gray face and gray throughout his coat. Someone, I don't know who, shaved him and I know once his fur comes back he will be even more handsome. He rides like a trooper in the van, though I think he would have preferred to ride in the front seat with me. He does not guard his food, I can pick up his dish and pat him while he eats.

Today he met resident Jax and foster Colby 10-186 without incident, well Jax carried on for awhile, and Grant took it all in stride. The one thing he did try to do is 'hump', but was put in his place.

I walked him around the house and 2 of my cats were on their thrones in the living room. I walked him up to the cats and they didn't budge, which is a miracle since if they see Colby they automatically run. He had no interest in either one.

When we got to the family room he walked around then sniffed a leather chair and lifted his leg, I had him on lead and pulled and yelled no. He stopped, looked at me and continued on with his exploring. He has been in the kitchen since then with FD. Will see how it goes while watching t.v. tonight. FD took him out and he did all his business, but hasn't shown a 'sign' yet.
OK this wonderful boy was the hit at the vet office. He met everyone with a wagging tail and smile. He was checked out, he is under weight by a good 10 to 15 lbs, he's negative for heartworm or lymes, and his poop was clean. Yeah!! I'm so grateful to my vet, Dr Altena for working him yesterday. He was neutered, teeth cleaned and had 2 nasty upper molars pulled, one on each side. He was the perfect patient. Last night he whined while one of the nurses was still there doing paper work, so she got him out on leash, he laid down next to her and didn't move. Today he spent most of the day either up front with the girls, or in the back being fawned over. They ALL just love him and if you met him you'd know why. The only down side I've found with this guy is he pulls on lead and we won't be able to use a gentle leader with him till after his check up. But he is happy to go in the fenced yard and wander around and do his business. I have no idea if he's a runner or chases, so that is an unknown.

Grant was at a crowded animal control that literally had no room for him, no crate, no kennel. His owners were notified but chose not to retrieve him. This turned out to be a wonderful break for this sweet guy, he got to come to RAGOM. Someone loved him at some point as he knows come, sit, shake and down. This week we have had calls to please take dog after dog. There are so many reasons for these dogs to end up with us, but we are grateful to be able to take them. This is a hard time of the year with the long holiday weekend. The vet bills are piling up, and the dogs keep coming. If ever you have thought of becoming a foster or transporter, or sponsoring, now would be a good time:) Meanwhile, Grant is safe and sound, vetted and will be loved and fed. If you have been looking for an 'older' boy with a lot of giddyup, this would be your boy!! Hey, call your placement advisor and we'll talk.
