Meet Greta (formerly Carlie), a spunky, super sweet 2-year-old mix. She weighs 60 pounds and has beautiful amber-colored eyes. Once in a while she’ll grace us with a full-on smile, which is adorable. She had her wellness vet check and she’s up to date on all her vaccinations and preventatives, and she is spayed.

Greta was originally adopted as a 3-month-old pup. She was part of a busy household with several dogs and a cat. The family felt she wasn't getting the individual attention she needed to really shine, so they made the heart-wrenching decision to surrender her back to RAGOM to find the perfect family for her.

Greta LOVES fun, and I have never seen a dog who can get other dogs to play like she can. We are dog sitting a friend’s Schnauzer who never used to play with other dogs, and leave it to Greta to win her over. They are hilarious to watch. Greta seems to mirror the play style of whoever she is playing with.

Her previous owners said she’s been going to doggy daycare once or twice per week since she was a puppy, and she lives for that. She is super good about dialing it back when it’s time to chill out. Her favorite thing to do is lay in a big dog bed that sits right below a picture window.

She rests her head on the window sill and keeps tabs on the bunnies, squirrels, and birds. We also have a fenced-in patio where she loves to hang out on a lounge chair taking in all the sights and sounds. I’d say that is when she is the most content and at peace.

Her recall is so-so: usually it's pretty good but she can have selective hearing if she's tuned into a critter or interested in something else. When she's in a fenced-in yard she is fine just watching, but if we are on a walk or riding in a car, she can get amped up when her prey drive kicks in and can be hard to control.

We’ve been working on redirecting, and when she is alone with me she responds beautifully. When I am walking several dogs she tends to be less responsive to my direction. Greta knows the basic commands, but obedience classes will be a plus to reinforce those skills. She will definitely need a fenced-in yard to keep her safe and home.

Greta travels well, and she eagerly hops in the car or truck to go places. She loves meeting people and isn’t shy. Sometimes she jumps up on people when she first meets them, but she quickly settles down.

She is super athletic and solid muscle. She's been going on two walks a day at a pretty fast clip. She would absolutely love to be your hiking buddy, and I suspect she would really shine with agility. She'll do best with a family or person who will get her out and about—especially if it has to do with the great outdoors.

She has lived with other dogs her whole life and would love a dog sibling. But she would be fine as an only dog, too, if she could attend doggy daycare regularly and have lots of opportunities to hang around other dogs. She is very social and thrives being around other dogs and people of all ages.

Greta is super affectionate, and a snuggler extraordinaire—especially if you are looking for a TV-watching companion. She sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom, but if her new family would invite her to snuggle in bed sometimes, boy oh boy she’d be up for that!
