I feel like I have a completely different foster with me now! From what I was told and the way she was the first few days, I thought Lola was a crazy energizer bunny type...but wow! was I wrong. For the last two days, Lola has gotten tired! And with her new relaxed state, she's proving herself to be quite the cuddle-bug. She just wants to be right with you getting petted, or at least laying on your foot.
Today was also the first time I didn't take her to work with me. I work at a vet clinic, so the pups usually go with me unless my mom will be around and let them swim and play while I'm gone. Anyway, she went with Belle (my puppy) to "Granny's" house just down the road and got to play/swim the entire time I was gone. She minded, and was such a good girl. Lola also met my parent's two 9 year old cats, and never even thought to chase them. Instead, she went to our part Siamese girl and sat quietly so she could sniff her and make sure everything was ok. Shamie (the cat) doesn't trust dogs she doesn't know and usually hides under the bed, but Lola was so quiet that Shamie gave a few little paw bats to the face to make sure the newby new her place...and then went on her merry way to lay in the sun for a nap. My mom was very proud. She has also been deemed a friend by my cat, and plays with the 3 lb kitten!!! Lola is also really getting her swimming technique down. Every once in awhile she flails a bit, but she looks like a normal swimming dog about 80% of the time now!
As for her "few bad habits", they are well on their way to becoming nothing more than a memory. She has only jumped to counter surf once in 3 days, and jumped on me for the first time tonight when I got home from work. I just realized tonight that she has bonded with me. She was SOOOO excited and I just had to remind her that it wasn't appropriate. After 2 jumps, she was sitting nicely, then rolled over and waited to get a belly rub.
Lola is by no means a "special needs" dog, but she does need to be on a certain food. She is susceptible to urinary crystals, but has only had them once. As long as she is on her Science Diet Perscription Diet food, she has absolutely no problem. From what I understand, it's a precautionary measure. Other than that, she is absolutely healthy and the sweetest pup around! I would really like to see her go to a family with another dog, but that is by no means a requirement. She loves to play with other dogs, but her people are by far more important. Lola is a wonderful girl...and COMPLETELY housetrained. I can't believe I forgot to say that earlier. I was told that she had crate anxiety, but she has chosen on her own to sleep in the crate with some squishy bedding. I let her sleep where she wants in my room, and she's been a great little house guest.
I'll get pictures in as soon as I get into town and on something faster than this pathetic old dial up! Once you see her face, you'll want to take her home right away!!
