Our sweet RAGOM boy Guiness (Gunner 11-151) crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 9/7/20. He was Corey's constant companion, as we adopted Guinness shortly before Corey needed to stop working from complications due to his MS in 2011. Guinness will be forever missed, but never forgotten.

I wanted to send an update on our wonderful golden that we adopted nearly 2 years ago. Guinness (Gunner #11-151).  He has been a pure joy to our family - when we first adopted him, my husband was just leaving work on permanent disability due to MS, so Guinness was a perfect partner for him in those early weeks and months of being home.  We have said so many times that we could not have asked for a better dog - certainly wouldn't have trained a dog to be as sweet and wonderful as our Guinness is :-)

He loves running around our back yard, chasing squirrels and rabbits, and the occasional ball/rope toy.  One of his favorite things to do is come outside with me when I hang laundry on the line.  He finds a branch to chew on and will just lay on the grass by me until it's time to go back inside.  The minute he sees me with a laundry basket, he races to the back door so excited!!

I wanted to thank RAGOM and the foster family for this wonderful, sweet, gentle and loving dog.  I've attached a few pictures of him.

Gunner is doing great. He loves his walks, his time in the dog park and most all he loves food. Not so crazy about a gentle leader but is very tolerant of it.

Gunner is doing well and has discovered squirrels at the local park. Our park’s squirrels are used to dogs so they let the dogs come very close. When Gunner runs at them, they stay about 20 feet up in the tree and just taunt the dogs terribly. Now even at the dog park, they stay outside the fence and drive Gunner nuts.

Original Initial Bio:

Did you ever buy a two seat sports car and then realized that it just didn’t work out with a family of five. Well that’s kind of the situation Gunner finds himself in. He came into RAGOM in early June and was quickly adopted by a wonderful family in Minnesota with three children. It turns out Gunner is not good with young kids and was returned to RAGOM. He seems sensitive to having his back end brushed or patted. We all know how little kids like to climb on the dog so maybe that has something to do with it. So he is now available for adoption. This time no younger kids.

Gunner is a sweet, gentle guy, neutered and fully up-to-date on all shots. He likes women and needs a slow introduction to most men. If not, he gets nervous when someone reaches to pat his head. Maybe in his past he got hit by someone. We don’t know but once he warms up to you, which doesn’t take much time, he is wonderful. He is great with dogs and has no resource guarding with people or other dogs. He willingly shares his water dish with everyone at the park. He is completely housebroken and has full run of the house. He sleeps by our bed at night and goes the whole night without problem.

He loves attention, he LOVES his hard tennis ball, and he is just a sweet dog. He has a wonderful blocky head. He seems to have some allergy issues but is on grain free food (potato and bison) which he inhales very quickly. His tummy hair is thin and we think that is due to allergies. Since he wasn’t in RAGOM very long we are still watching but it seems to be mild.
