Say hello to Gus!

Gus is a seven week old golden retriever / lab cross. He made the long trip to Alexandria from Iowa. We have had him and his brother for two nights now. Being a puppy, all he likes to do is play/chew, poop and sleep: usually in that order. He is eating puppy food three times a day. At night, he usually sleeps about four hours before needing to be let out. He is not house trained. Gus likes to explore. He enjoys going outside and exploring. We have been walking around the yard and exploring the lake. He is not too fond of the water, but that will come with warmer temperatures. Both he and his brother have fantastic noses. They know when the food is set down, where it is stored, and how to get into the garbage. He has very sharp little teeth and likes to bite. Puppies explore new things by biting them: fingers, shoes, toes, furniture, etc. He will grow out of it, but may scare very small kids.

This young lad will make some home complete, but let me give you a warning. He is not a holiday gift whose batteries will run out! He will grow into a beautiful dog and will need constant love. His foster home will not allow him to be boarded over the holidays so if you want to adopt him, make sure your plans are to take him with you or stay at home. He needs to enjoy the spirit of the year, just as his new family will. If you are interested in him, please contact intake.

Hi, Gus here from his furever home. I have been here for over 8 months (people months.)

I have gone all over Minnesota to campsites with my people. I have some pictures from the activities I have done for the past 8 months.

The first picture is me cuddling with Mommy. I am a snuggler.

I will cuddle with the small people, Ally, Cameron, and Ryan and with the big people, Jason and Ann.

Call me "The SNUGGLER" or one of my millons of nicknames. For example: Gussy, Gus-aroni, Gussy-Baby, Gus-asauraus and Meat Head! Don't laugh at the last one. Just because I am a little absent-minded doesn't mean I am a bad dog. Just a funny dog.

The second picture is me and Ally, the oldest of the litter is doing obedience training with me. I have done 2 sets of basic obedience training. She's the one who trains me and works on my "behavior."

When I'm 2 years old (people years), she is going to do agility competions with me. Sounds like a lot of fun!

Above is a picture of me warming up a little before I go back into the lake. That is one of my favorite things... swimming. When someone says,"Gus, do you want to go swimming?", I perk up and wag my tail. I also like to play fetch with a tennis ball, but it gets boring after a few throws. Tug-a-war is fun to do too, especially with old rags and squeaky toys.

I am a little comedian especially where I sleep and the things I do. I also can get into trouble. For example: digging, barking at the grumpy old cat, and wandering away (not too far). Oh well, I am a 10 month old puppy, right? Don't you just love troublemakers, because you can never get too mad at them.

Out on the screened in porch, I love to sit on the chairs like a real person. I watch the people eat and yes, I do beg but just enough to get a piece of food. I love my family because they are so gullible. My favorite foods are toast crusts, apples, peanut butter, carrots or anything else that is edible. I luv food!

When my people go on camping trips with the camper, I come with. I sleep with Mommy and Daddy and sometimes the youngest of the litter, Ryan. It is really fun. You go swimming, barbeque food, play games, and bonfires. Wow, it is really exciting when you get a piece of smore. Yummy! We have traveled all over Minnesota.

I also do lots of things in the neighborhood full of children and a big dog park. Ally likes to roller blade with me... 2 times around the neighborhood wears you out. I sleep good that night. Daddy likes to bike with me to Ally and Cameron's soccer games in the summer time. Speaking of sports, I LUV SOCCER BALLS! I like to run after them and grab them and pop them! But Mommy dosen't like the popping part.

Well this is a little piece of what has happened since the day I came home from my foster home. See ya and enjoy the rest of the summer.

Happy Holidays, everybody!

Gus is now 13 weeks old and living in frosty Fridley. He’s lovin’ the snow!  We’re working with him on housetraining and being lonely in the crate at night. He would really love company and a forever family!  He’s used to another dog being around and also a cat.  Good with kids and especially loves to be held & petted by one and all. If you want a pup with personality, Gus is your boy. Let placement know you’re interested before he gets away.  He’s going to be at Chuck & Don’s in Cottage Grove on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.  See you there???  P.S. He has VERY silky ears.

Gus is now 8 weeks old. He and his brother Charlie 09-477 spent Thanksgiving at grandpa's house and there were many new things to see and explore. Also met the other family's dogs and had fun playing.

Gus is more of an affectionate puppy than his brother. Gus will seek out a human when he is tired and ready for a nap, he likes to snuggle on your lap. He is also quite vocal, a moaner and a groaner. It is so cute it listen to him.

Neither of the puppies like the cold snow or rain, They need some encouragement to do their business when the weather is less than ideal. They both will come to the garage door when they are ready to come.

We are working on having them sit before going outside and then also before they come back through the door. And they usually do not mind having their feet wiped off.

As with most puppies, they are being treated for worms. They both eat and drink very well, so no concerns there.

Gus is ready for his forever home, let Placement at RAGOM know if you would like to meet him!!!
