Haley 09-424

Profile

Haley has been with me since Thursday night and seems to have fit right in.  She even went to the RAGOM Event in Plymouth yesterday and did just fine.  In fact, she seemed to really enjoy meeting people and even greeted store patrons on her own.

This is what I know (which isn't much at this point):  she is 11 years and 10 months old (but doesn't look or act it), she is on the smaller side, a little on the thin side, she is extremely sweet and gentle, starved for attention (of course most goldens seem to think they are), she isn't a velcro dog but she does like to be in the same room as her person, walks well on a leash, has learned that sleeping on the bed is far better than sleeping on the floor next to the bed, she gets along with dogs of all sizes (from 6# snarkey little dogs to big dogs), she ignores the cat and she knows sit, down, shake and a few other tricks.  Haley is an owner surrender and she had been a much loved pet but due to a change in the family she no longer could live with them.  She is housebroken and has free roam of my house.  She has kids in her past so she would do fine with older kids for sure, but she will be little kid (ages 1 & 3) tested this afternoon when my grandkids come over.

She will be going to vet on Tuesday afternoon so I will be able to tell you more after that.  I do know that she has several lumps under her chin, so I will have those looked at on Tuesday.

Hello All,

With a very sad heart I'm sorry to pass this information on to everyone (some already know) but we had to put our beloved Hailey to sleep Monday afternoon November 30, 2009. She is now in Heaven with Abbey, Leigh Ann, Heidi and Grand Ma O. smiling down at us. I'm not very good at writing so bear with me as I babble away.

Hailey was doing great up until Friday evening when she developed a limp on her back left hind leg. Up until Friday evening you would have never known Hailey was sick. We thought that maybe she had stepped in a hole and twisted the leg. Saturday rolled around and she still had the limp but no visable signs of swelling or anything. By late Sunday afternoon I noticed that Hailey's front right leg was very swollen and the leg was very warm and it was at this point she couldn't walk at all. We carried Hailey around all night when needed but had a very bad feeling as to what was happening. By the time we all went to bed Sunday night we had a bad feeling that Hailey wouldn't make it throught the night. Our plan was to take her to the Vet Monday morning. Hailey made it through the evening thankfully. Although in the morning she wasn't able to stand at all and barely able to keep her head up along with a lot of shaking. Stacy and I took her to the vet only to find out what we probably already knew. We would have to put Hailey to sleep.

Hailey was diagnosed back in October with Lymphoma and given 1-3 months to live. A very special thank you to Sue with RAGOM (Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota) who had Hailey and took loving care of her for a short period of time in October and came to love Hailey just as much as if Sue had known Hailey since she was a puppy. To Sue, I'm very sorry I didn't get to set up a weekend for you to see her again. I did give her a Kiss, Hug and I Love you from You to Her before she passed. Thank you again Sue and will be in touch tonight or tomorrow night with you.

I don't believe there is a single word, sentence or paragraph I could come up with that could give enough thanks to Paul, Stacy, Jacob, Ash, Bela, Gavin and Colleen and the new puppy Fritz for all the Love and Happiness they gave Hailey along with a wonderful home to be at. Although Hailey was only with them for a little over a month they gave Hailey more love and attention then anyone could ever ask and then more. Hailey became a part of their family as if they had had her since birth. Hailey sure is gonna miss steak for dinner, pancakes for breakfast and McDonalds and Peanut Butter and jelly for lunch I'm sure!!! :-)

Megan, Tristin, Jen and I were some very lucky people to have been able to have Hailey in our lives for 12 wonderful years. We know all the stories so I won't bore y'all with them. We just know Hailey isn't in pain anymore and is with her bestest friend in the world Abbey. Hailey will always be with us as long as we live still bringing us smiles. Marge, Tom and Nanna thank you for all the years of happiness you brought to Hailey.

To everyone who had the opportunity of meeting Hailey thank you for the Love you gave to her and I'm sure Hailey gave in return.

Monday afternoon Jacob came home early to say good bye to Hailey. He went to his room and pulled out a book, brought it to me and asked me to read the following:

Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.

Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and towmorrow brings them true

Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when again it's morning, they will was away.

Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm

Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place I LOVE YOU.

Hailey, I hope your trip across the Rainbow Bridge was calm and peaceful and that you are in a wonderful place where we will all be with you some day!!!

Good night Hailey - we all Love you.

Love Y'all,
Emmet
