Profile

Hallie is a retired mama who is learning to enjoy life as a family companion. She takes guidance from other dogs and will need a large, confident dog in her forever home. Any children in the home must be 13 or older. Hallie is afraid of humans, and as she learns to trust, a physical fence is required to keep her safe. She has not been tested with cats.

To understand why RAGOM will adhere to our requirements for Hallie regarding children and another dog, please read about Retired Breeding Dogs.

Updates

Hallie has been having a GReat summer so far. She is loving the nice weather, although I think she would be okay if it were not so darn hot every day.

She enjoys having the freedom to run in the fenced back yard and when she does not think any of the humans are watching, she will even do some zoomies. I think her favorite thing to do is to roll in the early morning wet grass from the sprinklers overnight. She comes back in the house looking like she went through the sprinklers herself.

Hallie has been making really good progress learning to trust her humans. She now sleeps on the floor in front of her foster parents' bed instead of her kennel at night.

Hallie has also started to take treats from our hands. They have to be pretty enticing, though. Hotdogs work every time! Carrots, surprisingly, not so much.

Probably the most exciting thing to foster mom and dad, though, is that Hallie will now come up to us when we are sitting around and let us pet her on the head. This made us so happy. and we are just waiting for the day we get the Golden nudge from her.

Summers are a busy time for Hallie's foster family, so one of the things we like to do is go relax at the lake when we are able. We were excited to take Hallie on her first weekend getaway to the lake a couple of weekends ago. Slow introductions were made to several family members, including some younger children. Hallie did wonderfully with everyone and was very well behaved.

Hallie did a lot of people watching that weekend at the lake. She was also even brave enough to go on the dock and sit. While I don’t know if Hallie will ever go swimming, I think she did enjoy her time at the lake.

While I know it is going to take time to get Hallie to trust humans and let us love on her like we do our own dogs, we are very happy with the progress this sweet girl is making. Hallie's future family will need to be very patient and continue to let Hallie learn to trust us humans at her own pace. She will need to time to grow comfortable in any new home and may never be a Velcro dog. She is, however, very gently and sweet with those dark brown eyes that just make your melt when she looks at you.
