Isn't Miss Hannah just a doll in her pink and white polka dot coat? She seems to appreciate the extra layer seeing her coat is still pretty short. She isn't too fond of her blaze orange and black booties though and has managed to get them off during our walks. Hannah does enjoy sticking her nose in the snow and plowing along through it. She emerges with a white coated muzzle and looks so cute.
Hannah has had lots of doggie visiting over Thanksgiving with the friend's dogs and yesterday got so excited to see them that she piddled on the floor of their kitchen. Guess we need to spend more time outdoors before going into anyone's house. She loves to go in the car and gets excited when the garage door goes up. She just wishes the back seat was heated.
Our visit to the vet on Wed. gave us some mixed news. Her pre-spay blood tests were fine and her teeth are just in need of cleaning. Upon examining her and looking at her x-rays, the doctor determined she may not be a candidate for hip replacement, due to the severity of her bone deformity. She does not have the balls and sockets she should. Her hip dysplasia is very severe. Because of her age, she can still get around now, but he predicted within a year or so she could have difficulties with pain and movement. He advised daily walks to strengthen her muscles, no fetch, running or rough housing. She still needs to lose some pounds, but I was pleased to see she'd lost 3 1/3 already. Being closer to 55 lbs. will relieve some of the stress on her hips. Good we have a one-story house without stairs to climb. She is a velcro dog and would want to be where ever her humans are. Her spay date was rescheduled to Dec. 15.
She is such a loving dog...although the cats still don't trust her or vise versa. They have a working truce that keeps things moving smoothly in the house.
Have to interrupt her sofa surfing and snoring now because we are going "bye bye truck"...she will perk up for that.
